Your opportunity

Dillon’s Communities and Environment Infrastructure technical group is looking for a Waste Management Technologist to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects across the country while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior client experience.

This position is available at our Richmond office.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Project Support & Waste Management Planning

  1. Assist in solid waste projects related to waste management policy, planning and approvals, waste diversion programs and waste management facilities across Canada.
  2. Completion and supervision of environmental field activities including waste composition studies, monitoring, maintenance, evaluation and trouble-shooting
  3. Completion of data analysis.
  4. Assist in developing and participating in public consultation programs and preparing public-facing content.
  5. Assist project managers, engineers, environmental scientists and others on a variety of multidisciplinary design teams (including project engineers, planners, biologists, technologists, etc.).
  6. Coordinate and manage project tasks, budgets and schedules.

Business Development

  1. Contribute to business development activities including the preparation of project proposals and presentations, and client liaison.
  2. Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request.

Learning & Development

  1. Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.
  2. Participate in internal Waste Management technical group meetings and initiatives.

Qualifications

  1. A degree or diploma in environmental planning or environmental sciences.
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  3. One to three years experience in environmental consulting will be an asset.

Experience

  1. Strong verbal and written communications skills, and keen attention to detail.
  2. Demonstrated abilities in multidisciplinary teamwork.
  3. Aptitude to learn.
  4. Familiar with relevant environmental policies, legislation, codes and standards.
  5. Some experience in solid waste management and/or environmental consulting would be an asset.
