PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
As the WASH Project Officer – DRR, you will be responsible for all WASH activities in target communities. This includes conducting technical WASH as well as soft WASH in communities to improve their access to safe, clean and consistent supply of water. You will be coordinating with partners and district stakeholders. This position will be based in Port Moresby covering two (2) districts in Central province. You will be able to work independently, and demonstrate a high degree of accountability in all engagements and activities.
KEY DUTIES
- Oversee the execution of WASH projects, ensuring adherence to approved plans and timelines.
- Coordinate with field staff, partners, and contractors to ensure the smooth implementation of WASH activities.
- Ensure that projects meet technical standards and comply with relevant guidelines and regulations ensuring gender and disability inclusive designs
- Coordinate with the PC in conducting awareness raising and training on Child protection and child safeguarding, PSEAH, and adherence to the code of conduct
- Establish and implement robust monitoring and evaluation systems for WASH projects.
- Collect and analyse project data to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Facilitate community consultations and engagement in project planning and decision-making.
- Promote community ownership of WASH facilities and practices.
- Address community concerns and feedback in a timely and respectful manner.
- Compile activity reports and maintain expense tracking
- Ensure that ITT’s and beneficiaries tables are updated monthly on salesforce.
- Represent the organization at WASH coordination meetings and forums.
- Prepare and submit timely and accurate project reports to the Education and Resilience Program Manager.
- Ensure compliance with CF policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of [5] years of relevant experience in WASH project management, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
- Strong technical knowledge of WASH principles, technologies, and best practices.
- Experience in conducting needs assessments, feasibility studies, and data analysis.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in challenging and diverse cultural environments.
- Experience working with communities
- Experience in facilitating meetings and delivering training and workshops in rural communities
- Experience in participatory community development methodologies
- Experience with organizations working on gender and protection
DESIRABLE
- Experience in working with NGOs in cross-cultural setting.
- Working knowledge of the government of PNG WASH, DRR and Climate Change Policies

Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding or sexual exploitation, abuse or harassment (SEAH) risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding and PSEAH policy and procedures, and conduct yourself consistent with those policies.
