VSL Specialist

C-Quest Capital LLC (CQC) is a social impact project developer whose purpose is to transform the lives of families in poor communities around the world. We do this by providing access to sustainable energy services and clean energy technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, combat global climate change, and improve the health of those in need. CQC was founded in 2008 and is headquartered in Washington D.C., USA, with subsidiaries in India, Malaysia, Singapore and Cambodia and on-ground teams in Malawi and Zambia.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Malawians to fill the posts of Village Savings and Loans Specialist tenable at CQuest Capital Malawi office.

The VS&L Specialist will be responsible for the implementation of VS&L activities. She/He will be required to provide capacity building to all the VS&L groups and ensure transfer of relevant knowledge and skills of VS&L and other project related activities.

Key responsibilities:

• Providing technical guidance in the implementation of the VSL intervention including designing of VSL training materials.
• Training field officers on VSL approach and methodology.
• Designing monitoring and evaluation tools to assess impact of VSL.
• Supervise VSL Community Based Trainers’ trainings.
• Develop work plans to ensure successful implementation of VSL activities.
• Assess and train VS&L groups in economic activity selection planning and management and ensure the activities compliment to each other.
• Record and compile VS&L best practices and other success stories within project impact areas.
• Organize cross learning visits.
• Coordinate all the VSL activities with other project members of staff and other relevant key stakeholders at District level
• Submit monthly and quarterly reports and provide any updates as may be required from supervisors from time to time.
• Perform any other duties.

Qualifications And Desired Attributes:

• Degree in Community Development; Agribusiness; Rural Development or related fields.
• Minimum of 3 years practical experience in VS&L or related fields.
• Practical knowledge and experience with relevant VS&L approaches and initiatives.
• Familiar with decentralized extension system.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines under pressure.
• Ability to analyse situations and take corrective actions.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
• High level of professionalism, trustworthiness, confidentiality, and integrity.
• Computer literate in MS Word and Excel, as well as email.
