Vice President, Health, Safety, Environment and Quality

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Chairman the Vice President, Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) will be responsible for building a global HSEQ strategy focused on a safety-first culture with a commitment to zero incidents and an optimum environmental footprint.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage a Health, Safety, Environment, Quality team globally.
- Lead and empower all employees and contractors to achieve zero safety and environmental incidents.
- Lead and coach management to own site HSEQ.
- Direct company environmental sustainability efforts in a manner that promotes continuous improvement in reduction of the company environmental footprint.
- Coordinate with site leadership, site HSEQ team and relevant committees to ensure that all aspects of the company’s HSEQ results, and programs are working.
- Develop clear and measurable KPIs and goals for HSEQ performance; maintains detailed HSEQ incident performance data, analyzes trends, reports on statistics, and ensures action plans are put in place and executed. Establish consistent, effective processes for managing all incidents, hazard/accident investigations and reports. Assure timely issuance of incident communications, including incident alerts and documentation of incident closings.
- Collaborate globally with HSEQ team, senior management, and functional heads to ensure adequate HSEQ resources (e.g., budget, professional and technical staff) are established and maintained to achieve HSEQ and company strategic and tactical plans.
- Develop a comprehensive risk management and sustainability program with short and long-term goals & objectives. Collaborate with internal departments and external resources to ensure the integration of enterprise safety, security and risk initiatives and practices. Model safety, security and risk leadership behaviors to management, staff, and associates.
- Manage HSEQ audit, inspection, and corrective action programs to provide assurance that facilities comply with all federal, state, and local EHS regulatory requirements. Coordinate and interface with applicable external agencies including OSHA, State Environmental Agencies, law enforcement, consultants, and insurance representatives.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for achieving and maintaining registrations to ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 international standards, as well as Responsible Recycling (R2) standards.
- Coordinate with senior management team and function heads facilitating continuous improvement of the Company sustainability, emergency response, security, and overall Business Continuity Plan.
- Direct the analysis and evaluation of company asset/ liability management strategies; ensures protection of company assets through property, liability, auto, and workers’ compensation insurance coverages and oversight of policies.
- Facilitate and participate in the professional development of HSEQ leaders in the organization through regular coaching, training, and feedback.
- Educate and inform others on up-to-date knowledge of regulations and codes relating to people safety, process safety, environmental compliance, security, and fire/explosion protection.

Job Qualifications:
- University degree required with focus in safety management, industrial health and safety or a related field strongly preferred.
- Applied knowledge of global environmental, health and safety laws and regulations.
- Ability to effectively manage and delegate while achieving key results and deliverables
- Proven collaboration skills with ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
- Approachable, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong mentoring, training, and coaching to team and colleagues
- Business acumen, statistical and analysis skills including the ability to develop, implement and monitor metrics
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and persuade decision makers across the globe.
- Ability to multitask, organize and prioritize work.
- Customer focused with the ability to deliver coaching and solutions that are supportive of our customer’s needs.
