About the Position
The Program Assistant (PA) helps to organize and execute the Virtual Freedom Schools Literacy Academy program in accordance with its goals and vision. The Program Assistant supports the day-to-day operations and serves as the liaison for family communication. The PA will support a virtual site in conjunction with the Virtual Program Manager, 1 Servant Leader Apprentice Coach leading 10 Servant Leader Apprentices, 1 Junior Servant Leader Coach leading 10 Junior Servant Leaders and 40 scholars. The Program Assistant must be capable of effectively managing communication between all levels of program participants and staff. PAs are responsible for technology support, supply ordering and inventory, parent communication, parent engagement, attendance tracking, scholar level and assessment tracking, and scholar incentive system management. The Program Assistant must be committed to the goals of the program, able to work collaboratively with program coaches, all program constituents and be familiar with the culture and dynamics of the community. The Program Assistant will serve as a positive role model and mentor for other program staff and scholars. PAs will participate in evaluation and feedback, as well as administrative tasks which help to ensure the successful facilitation and structure of the Virtual Freedom School site. This is a temporary position that ends shortly after summer programming.
Responsibilities include:
Manage data tracking systems for scholar attendance and assessment tracking
Manage virtual scholar incentive program
Manage program supply inventory and ordering
Assist with student recruitment
Ensure proper implementation of Freedom Schools Literacy Academy program model by managing daily communication with parents.
Coordinate supply inventory upon receipt and coordinate pick up schedule for families
Lead the coordination family engagement initiatives and volunteer responsibilities.
Attend all required training.
Work with site staff to identify and schedule guest readers, and lead Harambee.
Ensure Coaches, Servant Leader Apprentice, Junior Servant Leaders and scholars have the necessary books, materials and supplies for daily activities.
Attend daily debrief sessions, team meetings and 1:1 meetings to maintain team spirit, as well as provide technical support and feedback on operational procedures
