About The Center for Black Educator Development
The Center for Black Educator Development exists to (re)build a national Black Teacher Pipeline to achieve educational and racial justice by ensuring there is equity in the recruiting, training, hiring, and retention of quality educators that reflect the cultural background and share common socio-political interests of the students they serve. Launched in June 2019, the Center for Black Educator Development is revolutionizing education by dramatically increasing the number of Black educators so that low-income Black and other disenfranchised students can reap the full benefits of a quality public education. About the Position
As the Virtual Junior Servant Leader Coach (V-JSLC), you have experience coaching and mentoring youth, teaching high school students, and delivering curriculum. You are able to guide students through critical reading practices and support them as they develop a research-based social action project. You must also be comfortable playing a supervisory role as your Junior Servant Leaders (JSLsP) learn about professionalism at the workplace. CBED commits to equipping future educators with pedagogical understandings and tools that extend beyond the traditionally euro-centric models currently prevalent in the field of education. By doing so, CBED hopes that our JSLs will emerge from their apprenticeship committed to entering the field of education upon graduation. This is a temporary position that ends shortly after summer programming.
