Vice President, Project Development

Purpose of the role:

As a VP Project Development, you will be responsible for project development, focused in North America and the US in particular. You will lead the Svante US office and the project development and sales activities in the USA. You will leverage exceptional commercial expertise and your strong technical background in process or plant engineering to advance new project opportunities from qualification through successful customer decision-making processes to reach Final Investment Decision (FID).

You will be also responsible for navigating complex sales and project development processes with our customers and partners to ultimately close on project FIDs and technology package sales. This will require the full deployment of a broad and demonstrated toolkit across the domains of strategic selling, commercial negotiation, and relationship management using a customer-centric and rigorous approach.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • You have 15+ years of experience within project-based industries such as Renewable Energy, Oil and Gas, or Industrial Capital Projects.
  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering preferred or combination of education and job experience.
  • You have worked in client facing roles in a technical environment with long sales cycles in a capital-intensive industry.
  • You have demonstrated success in large, complex commercial negotiations and project development and a deep understanding of complex strategic sales within an enterprise capital budgeting context.
  • You have strong understanding of capital budgeting processes, project economics, project finance and commercial negotiations.

Bonus Skills and Qualifications:

  • You have experience in managing a global team.

What success looks like in this role:

  • You will leverage all resources and strategies available, including critical direct involvement in project development to ensure the successful progression of project opportunities from initial scoping study to a successfully closed FID and sale transaction.
  • You will develop a Project Development Roadmap that operationalizes Svante Strategic goals related to commercial project development.
  • You will lead a team to develop and maintain strategic opportunity capture plans that bring clients from qualification through a successful customer decision-making process to reach Final Investment Decision (FID).
  • You will work in tight coordination with Business Development to develop and manage relationships with key decision makers within client’s organization and understand their decision-making process.
  • You will guide the Project Development Managers with customer contract negotiations at multiple stage gates during the front-end-loading process, involving internal Svante stakeholders as necessary.
