Position Purpose
A versatile position within a dynamic non-profit that provides community-inspired, volunteer-powered disaster relief. The US Response Manager will work with the Director of Response to oversee US Response Strategy, lead US DART (Disaster Assistance Response Team), support US Rapid Response, and provide ongoing management support for active US Response programs.
Reporting Relationships
Essential Functions.
Manage and oversee disaster assessment and program development in the United States, including oversight of Rapid Response strategy and implementation as well as large scale disaster event programming
Lead Disaster Assistance Response Teams (DART) in deployments to post disaster assessments, acting as the main lead on the ground, building and managing the team to oversee the initial assessment and start up phase, including community needs assessments, connecting with stakeholders such as NGOs and emergency management partners, donors, and community leaders.
Hiring a program team to operate ongoing response programs and directly manage the Program Director of that team as well as support the full team in direction and strategy of the program, traveling to those programs to provide operational support as needed.
Monitor for new weather events and developing a deployment strategy for potential and incoming disasters
Manage and communicate with DART roster, both during blue skies and disaster events
Work with the Director of Response and wider response team on developing process and strategy for the organization as well as working through process and policy on the wider operations management team.
Act as the main remote manager for the U.S. Response programs, working with the Program Director to ensure compliance with the timeline, budget, documentation, hiring, health and safety, and overall operation of an effective program.
With the Director of Response and Rapid Response Manager, build the process around U.S. Rapid Response and oversee its direct implementation with an aim of increasing the AHAH capacity to respond in the U.S.
Financial responsibilities include budget development and oversight both for assessments and active responses, as well as working with program teams to operate programs within developed forecasts.
We have decided to relax the requirement for Covid-19 vaccination for on program staff. While we still strongly recommend Covid-19 vaccination, along with other standard and travel immunizations as recommended by the CDC and WHO, Covid-19 vacation will no longer be required
