About the Opportunity

As a result of recent continuing growth and a strong pipeline of exciting new projects, Ethos Urban is seeking a new Urbanist for our Social Strategy team. This is a permanent (full-time) role based in our Sydney office. The role will suit a dynamic and passionate individual looking to take the next step in their professional career.

Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in social planning, social sustainability strategy development, community resilience, social research, social impact assessment, and social infrastructure planning. This experience may be in government and/or the private sector.

Key responsibilities

As an Urbanist, Social Planning & Engagement, you will:

  • Undertake research and analysis across areas such as population growth and change; social issues facing communities; impacts and opportunities of urban renewal, and policy drivers for our changing cities.
  • Develop evidence to support client decision making on social issues relevant to their projects, through applying social planning and research methodologies – both qualitative and quantitative.
  • Assist in the development of social strategy and policy advice for a range of clients including developers and government agencies, under the guidance of a Project Manager/ Director.
  • Work collaboratively across a wide range of projects and services across the organisation’s diversified portfolios, including as part of multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Prepare fee proposals/expressions of interests under the guidance of a Project Manager/Director.

Who we are looking for

  • Tertiary qualifications in Arts, Public Policy, Social Research, Planning, Communications and/or a Built Environment related degree/discipline (essential)
  • 1-3 years of relevant industry experience (essential)
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills, with a flexible and positive attitude to working on a range of different projects concurrently.
  • Understanding and experience of planning, development or infrastructure approval processes.
  • A strong team player with an interest in helping further develop our Social Strategy service offering.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
