About Access Now

Internship Overview
We are seeking a motivated graduate student who is committed to digital rights for a ten-week summer United Nations (U.N.) advocacy internship. This is a great opportunity for a graduate student looking to gain experience in international relations, particularly from a civil society perspective. The intern will work on emerging issues around internet shutdowns, digital security, freedom of expression, freedom of association and assembly, cybersecurity and business and human rights, while gaining exposure to this work across regions. Training, mentoring, and supervision will be provided to ensure growth and progress towards a career in technology and international human rights.
What you will do
The U.N. Advocacy Intern can expect the following responsibilities, tasks, and experiences:
Skills, education, and mindset you will bring
Access Now seeks a motivated, organized, and reliable individual with an interest in digital rights and eager to work in a fast paced, global civil society organization. Demonstrated research and writing skills are essential, and fluency in a foreign language is a plus. An affinity for international relations, law, and knowledge of the U.N. system is a plus.
We are keen to receive applications from people who consider themselves under-represented in the human rights and technology communities — even if they feel they meet only some of the qualifications.
