Your opportunity

Dillon’s Transportation group is looking for an Engineer-In-Training to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

This position is available at our London office. We offer flexible work hours to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Design and Project Coordination (90%)

• Assist project managers with coordination of transportation projects

• Assist in the design of transportation projects including:

• Preliminary and Detailed design

• Engineering studies

• Technical specifications

• Design calculations

• Complate transportation drafting using CADD software

• Assist with site investigations and condition assessments

• Complete review of safe work practices and perform risk assessments

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, environmental scientists, engineering technologists and administrative support staff

Business Development (4%)

• Contribute to business development activities including client need research, preparation of project proposals and presentations
• Participation in the Early Career Development program

Learning and Development (6%)

• Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
• Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

• A degree in civil or transportation engineering
• Licensed to practice as an engineer-in-training in the province of Ontario, or eligible to be licensed within six months
• One to two years’ work experience with exposure to consulting is considered an asset, however, new graduates will be considered

Experience

• Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial engineering standards and regulatory requirements
• Knowledge of industry standards, specifications and good engineering practices
• Understand project design and implementation activities, including: development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering and contract administration
• Proficient in the use of current AutoCAD software; working knowledge of Civil 3D, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer or InRoads software will be considered an asset
• Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills
