Position:  Translator (North Africa Programming)

Contract Duration: 1 year contract from January 2024 to December 2024 with possible extension pending funding

Location: Remote

SUMMARY:

The Institute for War & Peace Reporting (IWPR) is seeking a translator. The position will be remotely working from home and will support the implementation of the IWPR North Africa programming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide simultaneous interpretation (Arabic/English/French) as needed;
  • Provide written translation (Arabic/English/French) of various documents related to the project on a wide range of technical and programmatic topics;
  • Provide written translation of various finance documents including invoices, quotations;
  • Translate documents, correspondence and articles from and to English;
  • Perform other tasks as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in English or Translation;
  • Full Proficiency in English, French and Standard Arabic (oral and written);
  • At least 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in a similar position and previous experience working with a non-governmental organization is an asset;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work effectively to meet goals in a deadline-driven environment;
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention even under pressure;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people;
  • Proficiency in use of computer programs such as word as well as internet search engines

Salary range: 1500-1800 TND (or the equivalent in USD) per month.
