Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s Orlando team is looking for a Traffic Design Engineer to join our growing Transportation practice.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a team of professionals to develop traffic engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projects
  • Develop intersection and corridor designs, including the design of signals, signing and pavement marking and lighting plans

Skills and Attributes

  • Working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in traffic engineering.
  • Knowledge of local and state regulations governing site design.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard engineering design and analysis systems (e.g., AUTOCAD and/or ORD)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and
  • collaborate effectively and positively with coworkers.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of engineering experience
  • BS in Civil Engineering (a master’s degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience)
  • Engineer in Training certification preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Experience with traffic capacity analysis software (Synchro, HCS) a plus
  • Experience with AutoCAD or ORD required
