Purpose of the role:

As a Test Engineer, you will play a critical role in assessing the mechanical properties and performance of materials integral to our carbon capture processes. Leveraging tools such as Universal Testing Machine (UTM), Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) equipment alongside dedicated test stations, you will execute thorough testing and analysis. Additionally, you will spearhead the creation of custom test stations to fuel product development. Required Skills and Qualifications:

• You have Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, with 5 years of experience in analytical/testing laboratory (combined industrial and/or graduate school experience).
• You have extensive hands-on experience in the safe operation, calibration, and maintenance of analytical and testing instruments (UTM, DMA, TMA, etc.).
• You have comprehensive knowledge of diverse mechanical testing methods and standards, and demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret test results accurately.
• You are skilled in mechanical design aspects, including functional decomposition, 3D CAD modelling, creation of technical drawings, and understanding tolerances, with an emphasis on experimental setups and jigs.
• You have experience in drafting and auditing SOPs and JSAs for new tests, sample preparation methods, and the introduction of novel equipment.

Bonus Skills and Qualifications:

• You are familiar with a diverse range of materials, including but not limited to polymers, ceramics, composites, and adhesives, would be a significant advantage.

What success looks like in this role:

• You will develop and implement efficient laboratory management processes, including test requesting, tracking, and reporting mechanisms.
• You will ensure compliance to standardized test standards (i.e., ASTM and ISO), as well as maintain strict adherence to quality control procedures.
• You will calibrate and maintain testing equipment to guarantee optimal performance, accuracy, and reliability.
• You will collaborate with the R&D and product teams to define test strategies and develop new experimental setups and test methods.
• You will prepare and maintain detailed documentation for equipment operations and facility management (SOPs, JSAs, etc.).
• You will execute a wide range of mechanical tests, including tensile, compression, flexural, and fatigue tests, and keep record of all tests conducted, ensuring data integrity and traceability.
