New Moms is a nonprofit organization with a $8 million budget and a staff of nearly 60. At New Moms, young moms, 24 and under, take powerful first steps toward economic mobility and family well-being. Our 2-Generation approach puts families experiencing poverty in control of their goals and unleashes their potential. New Moms’ headquarters is located on the west side of Chicago in the Austin neighborhood. Our East Garfield Park location includes all Workforce Development programming as well as our social enterprise, Bright Endeavors, which provides paid transitional jobs for young moms. We also have an office in Oak Park serving the near western suburbs.

About the Job:
The registry Community-based Doula is responsible for promoting healthy pregnancies, breast feeding and building a trusting relationship that offers strength-based services for families during birth. The registry Doula will provide on-call support and a non-clinical role during labor and delivery as a doula. This position will be providing services to young moms 24 and under who are enrolled in both our Chicago and western suburbs programs and will work remotely and attend births virtually and in-person. This position will champion all New Moms values including our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
On-Call Rate: $22/day while scheduled to be on-call ($22 additional per New Moms approved holiday)
Hourly Rate (when called in): $21.50-$23.00/hour DOQ
General Schedule: On-call schedule is 7 continuous days, approximately once every 4 weeks
Key Job Responsibilities:
Attends labor and deliveries to provide a supportive role for the laboring participant and her family and/or support person(s)
Performs documentation of services provided in participant files, and internal and external electronic case management information systems if needed
Works to consistently enforce program compliance under the direction of supervisor, working to maximize participant retention as well as program safety
Responsible for being available while on-call to provide coaching over the phone and attending births in person or virtually when necessary
Maintain Doula Certification if applicable
Upholds the New Moms’ Executive Skills Coaching approach which is grounded in racial equity
Performs other related duties as assigned
