Job Summary

The Technology Director reports to the Data & Technology Senior Director who leads the organization's digital strategy.

As the Technology Director, you will oversee technology initiatives that enable complex solutions tackling global issues in an evolving industry and help shape the organization’s technical infrastructure to ensure it is efficient, robust, secure, scalable, and aligns with our overarching digital goals and objectives.

You have proven experience in Azure cloud-based enterprise data solution and other enterprise applications.  You will be the organizational technical expert, communicating technical issues to a non-technical audience.

Like all roles at Textile Exchange, the role will be home-based with some travel required. Textile Exchange is a US-based, remote-working organization with a global team. This position is open to domestic and international candidates. Candidates must be available to work across Asian, European and US time zones.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities

• Support the Senior Director of Data & Technology in developing and implementing the organization’s digital strategy.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s technical initiatives and infrastructure.
• Ensure the smooth operation of data ingestion, pipeline and reporting in the Enterprise Data Platform and the integration with front end UI, and troubleshoot and address any break-fix needed.
• Ensure the availability, reliability, and scalability of IT systems to meet business requirements.
• Develop and enforce IT security policies, procedures, and best practices to comply with regulations, safeguard information and protect against security threats.
• Develop and implement protocols for disaster recovery and business continuity.
• Lead the development, integration, and support of technical solutions, ensuring they meet business requirements and contribute to operational efficiency.
• Build and lead a high-performing IT team, including technology solution providers, and contractors.
• Monitor vendor and solution provider performance and seek opportunities for cost optimization and process improvement.

Additional responsibilities

• Assess emerging technologies impact on the organization and recommend solutions.
• Work with Senior Director of Data & Technology to develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to support strategic initiatives.
• Communicate updates on IT initiatives, projects, and performance metrics.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• 3-5 years’ experience in similar role or capacity.
• 10-15 years’ experience in system development and implementation.
• Experienced in solutioning Azure cloud-based Enterprise Data Solution as well as other enterprise applications such as Salesforce, Geospatial Information System, Intacct Financials, Learning Management System etc is a must.
• Experienced in areas such as application design and development, application integration, middleware, database management or operations, information security, technical architecture, network management, and mobility.
• Demonstrates well-rounded technology experience/exposure including data collection systems, contact management systems, financial management systems, traceability systems etc.
• Strong thought leader who will champion innovative solutions in data exchange, traceability, provenance, and proof of impact.
• Proven ability to develop detailed solution designs.
• Experience in waterfall and agile development methodologies.
• Solid understanding of multiple disciplines such as operating systems, visualization, networking, integration, software development, endpoint devices, security, and cloud services.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a reputable university in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent discipline.
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including communicating technical issues and complex solutions to non-technical audiences.
• Strong organizational, analytical ability, judgment, and problem analysis techniques with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and have strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a cross functional team.

Employment Package

• Reports to: Senior Director of Data & Technology
• Full Time Position, 40 hours a week
• Location: Virtual / remote
• Salary Range: USD $128,000-$160,000 Annually
• Textile Exchange is currently unable to provide sponsorship for work permits. Candidates need to have existing right to work in nominated working location.
• To be filled as soon as possible (start date to be agreed between both parties).
• Our offers for salary and benefits are dependent on the region of the final candidate. We post most positions based on a US-based Team member but final offers are done in alignment with the final candidate's permanent residence and in line with Textile Exchange's regional employment package.
