We are currently looking for a Senior or Principal Consultant or Associate Director to join our Emissions Inventories and Projections team. This is a specialist inventories role and is best suited to an individual with a minimum of 5 years of consultancy or industry experience of emissions to the atmosphere from one or more of the following sectors: oil and gas, domestic combustion, road transport, shipping, waste management or AFOLU.

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent qualification in a science/mathematics related subject.
  • Strong problem-solving and numeracy skills.
  • Knowledge of UK, European, and global air quality and GHG emissions regulations.
  • Proven ability to deliver technically sound results under scrutiny.
  • Track record of task ownership and completion.
  • Network of contacts within air quality, climate change, or specific industries.
  • High attention to detail with an appreciation of QA/QC processes.
  • Proficiency in common software like Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication and client presentation skills.
  • Specialist knowledge in emission sources, regulatory landscape, and technologies in sectors like oil and gas, transport, combustion, waste management, or AFOLU.

Desirable competencies include expertise in emission inventory methods (e.g., IPCC, EMEP/EEA guidelines, GHG Protocol) and their application in various inventories and projections, along with experience in data processing and statistical analysis using languages like Python or R. As well as familiarity with relational database server technologies like PostgreSQL.

This role involves contributing to all phases - from supporting the preparation of proposals to win new work, through researching and analysing information and data, building emission and projection models, to delivering compelling, engaging outputs, and contributing to reports that are delivered to clients.

This role is likely to involve:

  • Working on a variety of projects including the National Atmospheric Emissions Inventory.
  • Providing ad hoc support and advice to Government customers.
  • Developing and improving Inventory models, methods and assumptions, and activity data.
  • Stakeholder engagement, with the modelling community, industry, academia and public sector.
  • Projections and scenario development to support customer policy makers.
  • Leading and designing measurements for the development of new emission factors.
