ABOUT THE ROLE
The Technical Project Manager is a member of the Program Management Organization at 3Degrees. You will be responsible for understanding and translating business requirements, processes, and workflows into actionable project plans. Collaborating with both the internal application development team and external vendors, you will drive the execution of systems enhancements, new applications, and new services. You will manage projects independently that power the company's sales, finance, legal and trading teams and you are qualified to significantly enhance our company's operations, delivering high-quality results from initiation to completion while seeking guidance when necessary.
This is a full-time, exempt role reporting to the Senior Program Manager & Business Operations. This position is open to candidates ideally based within a commutable distance of our offices including Portland, ME, New York, NY, San Francisco, CA or Portland, OR; where you'll enjoy a flexible hybrid working environment. Exceptional candidates based outside of the listed locations may also be considered. WHAT YOU’LL DO
You will take ownership of a portfolio of defined projects that are cross-functional and more complex, emphasizing a collaborative and iterative approach with a bias for high-impact action. Your role will focus on continuous feedback and improvements to enhance project efficiency and responsiveness to changing requirements. You will streamline and optimize business processes, systems, and tools to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
Project Management: Manage a portfolio of defined strategic projects. You will define project requirements, drive teams to meet goals and accelerate progress by driving timely decisions. Ensuring the seamless integration of back-end systems, efficient data management, and robust reporting functionalities. Oversee projects from initiation to completion, ensuring high quality and timely execution
Project Integration: Manage interconnected projects (e.g., Supplier REach, Marketplace, customer document portal), each with its own plan and dependencies. Oversee KPI management and reporting, tracking metrics such as customer launches, deal count, value creation, customer acquisition cost (CAC), and long-term value (LTV)
Scope Management: Collaborate with senior PM’s and leadership to deliver project components, ensuring clarity, accountability, and efficient resource allocation. Own and maintain project documentation, including the project charter, schedule, business requirements documents, status reports, and training materials, utilizing tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Asana, and Excel to facilitate planning and tracking
Communication Management: Provide clear, concise, accurate, and timely communication (e.g., verbal: leading standup meetings and written: Jira, status reporting) to the right audiences. Effectively manage meetings and drive high-level alignment. Ability to communicate effectively org-wide
Stakeholder Management: Work with stakeholders across Business Units and Shared Services to align projects with organizational goals, considering resources, interdependencies, budgets, and financial impacts. Prioritize projects to maximize company impact and communicate plans and outcomes effectively
Project Management Methodologies: Highly skilled in operating in waterfall, agile, and/or hybrid project management methodologies to enhance velocity, consistency, and adaptability. High proficiency with MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Jira, ASANA, and/or other project management tools
Process Improvement: Improve and streamline business processes. Implement efficient workflows and standardized operating procedures to enhance productivity and operational efficiency
Business Operations: Contribute to the build out of business operations processes and stand up new reporting mechanisms.
ABOUT YOU
You bring a combination of project management knowledge, technical proficiency, business acumen, and strategic vision to the role. You have experience working on cross-functional programs, adaptive planning, and timely delivery of high-impact projects. Your ability to engage with cross-functional teams and effectively gather project/program requirements is key to your success. You bring the following skills and qualifications to the role:
4+ years of technical project management experience and/or advancement within cross-functional areas of subject matter expertise
Strong knowledge of project management processes and principles; skilled at communication, problem-solving, and troubleshooting to resolve complex issues
Highly collaborative working style with the ability to engage and align cross-functional teams effectively
Ability to facilitate internal end-user adoption and proficiency
Ability to ask the right questions to fully understand objectives and deliver intended outcomes
Proficient with waterfall, agile, and hybrid (combine elements of both linear and hybrid approach)
High proficiency with MS Project, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Jira, Asana, etc.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate internal end-user adoption and proficiency of new systems and applications
Proficiency in technical systems and software development processes; able to quickly learn and apply new technologies
Strong understanding of business operations for a global corporation, with knowledge of financial management and B2B sales processes
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences, with experience producing reports, presentations, and documentation
Experience in developing requirements and formulating business metrics for reporting
A degree in computer science, business, finance, information technology, or equivalent professional experience
HOW WE DEFINE SUCCESS
Within 30 days
Gain a comprehensive understanding of the team’s and the company's business and strategic priorities; learn the team structure, systems, processes, and tools used to manage projects
Establish strong cross-functional relationships with peers, stakeholders, and key business leaders; engage with stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure alignment
Ensure all necessary tools, systems, and access are set up to effectively manage and track project progress; begin participating in stakeholder meetings to understand project requirements and expectations
Actively shadow senior team members during project execution, observing task management and communication practices. Assist with gathering requirements, understanding acceptance criteria, and observing project planning sessions
Within 90 days
Start contributing and lead project components, including gathering requirements, project documentation, defining acceptance criteria, and leading project meetings
Track project progress and status with project management tools like Jira, Asana, excel and others
Mitigate potential roadblocks encountered during assigned tasks, seeking guidance on solutions
Within 6 months
Effectively own 1+ project(s), ensuring timely and high-quality execution; demonstrate the ability to lead efforts within cross-functional teams
Utilize project management tools effectively to track progress, manage resources, and communicate project updates to stakeholders
Effectively identifying and managing project risks. Proactively developing mitigation strategies and keeping senior team members informed
Actively contributing to system efficiency and functionality; contributing to the overall growth and success of the team by driving operational improvements
Lead successful adoption and proficient use of new systems, programs, and applications by end-users; collaborating with Learning & Development team to conduct training sessions to ensure smooth transitions and user readiness
Within 1 year
Contribute to the successful delivery of multiple high-impact projects, demonstrating a strong understanding of project management principles
Implement efficient workflows and standardize operating procedures, learning best practices for process improvement and optimization
Support the achievement of department and company goals by contributing to project scope management, clear communication, and positive stakeholder relationships
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The following compensation and benefits information is based on 3Degrees’ good faith estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future:
Compensation: The starting base salary for this position is $77,000-$126,000 in the US. Total compensation for a successful candidate will substantially exceed the base pay as it includes significant incentive compensation. Base pay is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future

Supplemental Pay: This position may be eligible to participate in discretionary bonus programs based on personal, department and company goals
