Overview

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks Technical Experts.

Major Function

WWF is seeking Technical Experts (multiple openings) for long-term positions for the anticipated USAID Prosperous and Resilient Landscapes project. This project will increase the prosperity and resilience of rural communities in Guatemala by investing in sustainable management practices that reduce land-based greenhouse gas emissions and improve livelihoods, especially for forest dependent communities, indigenous peoples, women, and youth. The project will work to strengthen forest conservation and integrated fire management, apply climate-smart livestock practices, implement landscape restoration activities, and improve and expand agroforestry systems and sustainable soil management practices.

Responsibilities

WWF is seeking experts in the following topics:

  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions from AFOLU
  • Sustainable forest management and agroforestry
  • Integrated forest fire management
  • Climate-smart livestock practices
  • Landscape restoration
  • Sustainable soil management
  • Strengthening local environmental governance
  • Promoting gender and social inclusion in environmental governance
  • Developing and strengthening sustainable value chains and livelihoods

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of experience working in one or more of the above topics. Experience working in Guatemala preferred.
  • At least 4 years of experience managing teams and leading the implementation of activities in the field.
  • Master’s degree in natural resources management, agriculture, forestry, environmental policy, development studies, social sciences, or a relevant subject.
  • Excellent written and oral skills communication and fluency in Spanish required. English fluency preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams and adapt to dynamic operating conditions to achieve project results.
