As a Technical Advisor in C-Quest Capital’s Carbon and Sustainability Accounting Team (CSAT), you’ll be advising Head of CSAT on all technical matters related to carbon and sustainability accounting and compliance management. You will advise on technical aspects of the projects and assist in establishing procedures, processes and standards to maintain a certain level of quality in documentation being submitted to VERRA, GS and other GHG mechanisms.

The Carbon and Sustainability Accounting Team (CSAT), is responsible for all aspects of carbon and sustainability accounting and compliance management for CQC’s growing portfolio of projects, which currently number more than 90 projects and growing. CQC is active in a number of different carbon verticals in both reductions and avoidance including household devices, fuel switching, industrial energy efficiency, renewable energy, avoided methane emissions and methane capture and use, as well as nature-based carbon credits, including, but not limited to those associated with bamboo afforestation, restoration forestry, farmer managed natural restoration, assisted natural restoration, other forms of regenerative agriculture and sustainable forestry management and soil carbon accumulation.
This position is based in New Delhi and will report to the Head of CSAT who is based in New Delhi, India.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical advice for preparation of checklists/ templates for validation and verification activities under various GHG mechanisms with respect to the guidelines outlined under the GHG crediting program such as VERRA, GS, etc.
- Perform thorough technical review and keep track of recent changes / developments in GHG mechanisms, which may impact our present and future project validation and verification.
- Ensure that CQC’s CSAT team and Head of CSAT is up to date on the latest technical and methodological developments across a range of carbon projects.
- Support identification and development of applying cutting edge science, technology, and digital tools to measuring and monitoring changes in a range of carbon pools.
- Provide summarized technical updates to Head of CSAT for respective GHG mechanisms.
- Perform Technical checks by accurately reviewing initial draft versions as well as final submissions packages to various GHG mechanisms and provide feedback for improving the quality of submission documents to Head of CSAT.
- Assist Head of CSAT for planning and development of data collection tools to understand baseline scenarios and monitoring project activities in different countries
- Work closely with Head of CSAT and Field team to ensure quality and reliability of data being collected, close coordination with CSAT to ensure smooth interactions with VVBs, and various project stakeholders on regular basis.
- Work closely with Head of CSAT for developing new business ideas and concepts which help in expanding the CQC portfolio in new regions both geographically and technologically.
The successful candidate must have experience working in a carbon/ climate change domain. Prior experience would include:
- 8 + years of direct working experience on technical aspects of GHG mechanisms (VCS / CDM / GS/ SD Vista etc.)
- Expert understanding of various GHG crediting programs technical in and out such as the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), SD VISta, Gold Standard, Article 6 of Paris Agreement, etc.
- Advanced degree in the field of climate or ecosystem sciences, agriculture, forestry, environmental management, environmental engineering, natural resources conservation and management, climate, and carbon mitigation-related fields.
- Extensive experience in projects for climate mitigation, natural resources conservation and management, forestry, sustainable agriculture or land management, conservation, or related fields.
- Hands-on experience in Technical aspects and methodologies for carbon project development and certification in the sector of the Voluntary Carbon Market, including familiarity with carbon standards like CDM, Verra, Gold Standard, CCB, etc.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving aptitude are desirable.
- Experience working with Direct GHG auditing experience under any GHG mechanism is a plus.
- Minimum of a Master’s degree in the relevant fields of energy and/or environmental engineering. PhD preferred.

- Strong technical understanding of carbon project development, methodologies, compliance, certifications, etc.

- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to articulate their communications when reporting/representing data clearly and concisely.
- An ability to fit in with the high-performance and collaborative culture of CQC.
- Good numerate skills.
- An ability to self-manage day to day activities.
Travel: The expectation is that the Technical Advisor will make occasional trips to the operating regions (on a need basis), but most of the time will be New Delhi based.
