The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), an established San Francisco-based nonprofit organization defending online privacy and free expression, is looking for a full-time energetic and enthusiastic Talent & Training Coordinator to join our Human Resources team.

The ideal candidate is personable, resourceful, and demonstrates outstanding attention to detail. The Talent & Training Coordinator will support applicants and staff throughout the recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes. The Talent & Training Coordinator will also support staff-wide trainings and professional development opportunities for staff as well as assist with EFF’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives by supporting the DEI Committee in their efforts.

What You’ll Do

The Talent & Training Coordinator, who reports to the Director of Human Resources, is responsible for the following:

  • Organizing and maintaining our recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes and ensuring they are people-focused throughout the employee life cycle,
  • Working closely with managers and key senior staff to build appropriate professional development plans for staff members, and
  • Helping take our diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives to the next level.

Detailed Job Description

Position Summary

EFF is seeking a Talent & Training Coordinator to support staff through the recruitment, onboarding and offboarding process. The Talent & Training Coordinator will also support staff-wide trainings and professional development opportunities for staff.  This position will also  assist with EFF’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives by supporting the DEI Committee in their efforts.

Essential Functions

Recruitment, Hiring, Onboarding and Offboarding (40%):

  • Ensure job descriptions and corresponding external marketing materials are up to date and appropriate for the position being posted;
  • Sources candidates through the BambooHR Applicant Tracking System, LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards, social media, referrals, and other appropriate recruiting venues to identify top talent and proactively build diverse hiring pools;
  • Works with hiring managers and outside temporary staffing agencies to provide temporary staffing coverage for employee absences;
  • Provides initial screens for all applications;
  • Schedules and conducts hiring team kick off meetings to discuss goals for the hiring process and best practices for hiring;
  • Schedules all interviews with applicants, hiring managers and hiring teams;
  • Act as the point person for the legal internship committee in their selection process and generates onboarding and offboarding tickets;
  • Works with the hiring manager to develop interview questions, interview rubrics and activities such as writing or coding tests;
  • Manages the interview process including scheduling, preparation of materials for the hiring teams, etc., with an eye toward keeping the hiring process on the agreed upon timeline;
  • Coordinates offer process and generates offer letter in HRIS system; and
  • Coordinates onboarding and offboarding processes with the SupportOps team.

Training and Professional Development (40%)

  • Tracks and ensures compliance with organization’s annual review process;
  • Proactively checks in with managers and employees at pre-determined regular intervals during a new hire’s first twenty-four months of employment to ensure they are integrating well into the organization and meeting expected benchmarks;
  • Assists managers in identifying professional development opportunities for staff and ensures required trainings are completed in collaboration with the Benefits and HRIS Manager;
  • Partners with the Deputy Managing Director to create professional development workshops and opportunities for staff; and
  • Works closely with the Deputy Managing Director to develop twice monthly management training meetings for managers.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (20%)

  • Coordinate the planning and execution of DEI programs at EFF, including workshops, trainings, meetings and external speakers;
  • Support EFF’s DEI initiatives by working with staff to identify needs and new trends, and make recommendations to improve existing programs and policies or create new ones if needed;
  • Monitor DEI budget in collaboration with the accounting team;
  • Partnering with DEI Leads to coordinate ongoing DEI Committee Meetings; and
  • Support the monthly DEI reading group.

Miscellaneous

  • Other projects and tasks determined in collaboration with the Director of Human Resources.

Required Education & Experience

  • Experience in talent management for the complete employee life cycle (i.e., recruitment, hiring, onboarding  and offboarding)
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative environment and manner
  • Knowledge of professional development opportunities
  • Experience supporting DEI initiatives

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Human resources certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar)

Classification: Exempt, Full-time (40 hours/week)

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 DOE

Expected hours of work: Typically Monday - Friday
