What is the opportunity?
The Talent Acquisition Specialist will support the full-cycle recruiting efforts for our growing ministry and will be the main point of contact for applicants throughout the interview process. The individual in this position should represent the ministry’s Statement of Faith and Christian Mission to external parties with Love, Excellence, and Integrity. They will be responsible for actively sourcing candidates, planning interviews and selection procedures, coordinating interview logistics, conducting in-person and virtual interviews, and advertising open positions on Water Mission website, Indeed, LinkedIn, social media, and other recruiting channels. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will partner with the Talent Acquisition manager to understand long-term recruiting strategies, understand hiring trends in various markets, and will be responsible for fostering relationships with potential hires and hiring managers. This full-time position reports to the Talent Acquisition Manager and is based in Charleston, SC.
A successful Talent Acquisition Specialist will:
- Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public.
- Engage and participate in prayer before and after team meetings.
- Lead and participate in biblically based staff devotions.
- Understand Water Mission’s full cycle recruiting process and articulate any challenges or barriers to the Talent Acquisition Manager.
- Coordinate with hiring managers to understand open positions and the selection of proper candidates.
- Speak to and advise hiring managers on job descriptions, candidate selection, and compensation recommendations.
- Train internal staff members on the hiring processes.
- Assist the international HR staff in Talent Acquisition procedures.
- Advocate for and represent Water Mission’s culture throughout the interview process using company-approved hiring methodologies.
- Post job advertisements on the Water Mission website and other external recruiting sites.
- Manage the applicant flow according to set service level agreements (SLA).
- Conduct thorough phone screens and in-person interviews using effective communication and listening skills with each applicant to ensure they are a strong culture and character fit for Water Mission.
- Provide insight to hiring managers regarding applicable candidates and help lead hiring managers to making a thoughtful hiring decision
- Establish relationships with applicants and potential candidates and develop a pipeline of applicants.
- Participate in in-person interviews and host candidates in the Water Mission office.
- Create and distribute interview guides and schedules for all interviews and distribute them to stakeholders.
- Conduct reference checks and initiate assessments on candidates before hiring.
- Lead interview debriefs with interview committees and hiring managers.
- Participate in compensation assessments.
- Draft and initiate offer letters to candidates.
- Understand and communicate pre-onboarding requirements to the hiring managers, HR coordinator, and payroll specialist.

What is required?

- Bachelor’s degree required or relevant experience in place of a four-year degree.
- Experience working with an applicant tracking system (ATS) is required.
- Proficient computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft 365, including PowerPoint, Excel, Office, and Outlook.
- 1-3 years of experience with full-cycle recruiting.
- Ability and desire to keep up with industry trends.
- Strong understanding of interpersonal skills.
- HR certification, such as SHRM-CP or PHR, is preferred.
- Familiarity with social media and recruiting platform analysis is preferred.
- Experience with online video interviewing systems is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate ideas and feedback constructively.
- Home internet bandwidth strong enough to support video conferencing and other job-related responsibilities.
