Your opportunity

Dillon’s Transportation & Facilities group is looking for a Surveyor to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer service.

This position is available at the Winnipeg office and would include field work throughout Manitoba.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Surveying (97%)

  1. Undertake surveys for geospatial data collection (topography and fixed site features)
  2. Undertake survey construction layout
  3. Collection and management of geospatial data from a variety of sources such as Total Station, rod and level, GPS equipment, etc.
  4. Provide support to the design team regarding co-ordinate systems and adjustment of survey data.
  5. Import and export of geospatial data and methodology for survey data collection
  6. Construction supervision and inspection
  7. Testing and implementation of new geospatial tools and technologies, including hardware, applications and software
  8. Supervise the quality of geospatial data collection procedures and help to develop, inform and implement best practices for geospatial data collection, workflow, quality control and management
  9. Geospatial equipment care, management, and tracking
  10. Supervise, monitor and develop junior survey and field staff
  11. Workflow planning, scheduling and co-ordination of survey and field staff across various projects
  12. Liaison with other Dillon offices for survey technical support

Learning & Development (3%)

  1. Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
  2. Contribute to the career development of junior and intermediate staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring
  3. Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees

Qualifications

  1. Diploma in geomatics engineering
  2. 5+ years geomatics experience in engineering, control, civil construction, piping and earthwork/volume surveys and GIS data collection

Experience

  1. Construction layout experience to include urban and rural roadways, linear pipes, bridges and structures, and earthworks
  2. Experience with City of Winnipeg roadway infrastructure projects considered an asset
  3. Legal surveyor designation a benefit
  4. Experience in the use of ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit and Trimble Business Centre
  5. Advanced GPS, Total Station, and rod and level experience
  6. Experience in the use of UAV survey drones and/or 3D laser scanning considered an asset
