Summer Internship: Product Design

The Position

Our Product Design Team is made up of multi-skilled, proactive communicators who develop a deep understanding of the problem space. We help drive measurable energy savings with a relentless focus on the end-user.

We are seeking a Product Design Summer Intern to join our team and help us achieve our ambitious goals for our business and the planet. As a Product Design Intern, you’ll work with designers who will show you Uplight’s design processes, as well as provide exposure to cross functional collaboration required to thrive within a digital product team. You’ll also work on focused projects in which you’ll learn and practice valuable product design skills while contributing to our mission of motivating and enabling people to save energy.

What you get to do:

• Develop an understanding of product design processes
• Work on product design projects where you will practice skills such as: create and design research plans, run user tests, define user flows, interaction design, content strategy, component design, and/or visual design depending on your concentration
• Pair with other designers on projects for you to both provide and receive feedback
• Build productive working relationships with one or more cross-functional teams such as product managers, engineers, and marketing, as it relates to your projects
• Contribute to the Product Design Team culture, products and processes

What you bring to Uplight:

• Desire to learn and grow your skills with a dynamic and innovative product-focused organization
• Likely working towards a degree, certificate or course in Product Design, User Experience Design, Behavior Science, Psychology, or similar
• Passionate about creating great user experiences in the domains of energy efficiency and the environment
• An unrelenting focus on the user and ability to identify their needs
• Self-motivated with the ability to execute on projects when given direction - you’re proactive and will do research and ask questions to keep projects moving
• Strong communication, collaboration and time management skills

Salary Range: $18 - $20 per hour (dependent upon experience)
