Your opportunity

Dillon’s Structural Engineering technical group is looking for a Structural Technologist to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

At Dillon, we operate as one team across 23 offices nationwide. This current position is available at Dillon’s Sydney office.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Design and Project Coordination (85%)

  • Assist project managers and engineers in the functional and detailed design (CADD/BIM design) for the following types of structural projects:

  • Buildings;

  • Industrial projects, and

  • Marine structures.

  • Prepare documents including construction drawings, contract specifications, calculations, and engineer’s estimates.

  • Assist project managers and liaise with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, architects and technical and administrative support staff.

  • Perform field work for structural assessments and periodic site inspections during construction as well as preparation of follow up reporting.

  • Option to assist with further fieldwork on an as needed basis to provide construction observation, monitoring and data collection activities.

Business Development (9%)

  • Contribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation (initiation and submission), reports and presentations, and client liaison

Learning & Development (6%)

  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited college program in Civil Engineering Technology, CAD technology, or from a career college in Engineering CAD / BIM Technology.
  • Two to four years' related work experience preferable

Experience

  • Experience in the preliminary and detailed design of buildings, bridges, industrial and marine projects.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD software. Experience with Revit and Civil 3D would be an asset. Willingness to advance skills with Revit/Civil 3D software.
  • Ability to read, understand and produce contract drawings in 2D and 3D.
  • Knowledge in civil/building construction techniques. Previous experience in a construction environment would be considered an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a team environment.
