Renewables Certification (RC) belongs to business area Energy Systems (ES) with more than 4000 people globally. Renewables Certification has the global responsibility for Type Certification (TC), Component Certification (CC) and Project Certification (PC) for Renewables within ES. Currently Renewables Certification consists of 250+ experts with locations in Beijing, Boston, Copenhagen, Dresden, Esbjerg, Hamburg, Høvik, London, Busan, Shanghai, Taipei and Yokohama.

Renewables Certification is the global market leader in the Renewables Certification market and is involved in 80% of Project Certification for offshore wind parks including offshore substations in the world.

For Type and Component certification department, we are currently looking for a dedicated structural engineer with a strong profile and keen interest in working in renewable energy. We (Turbine Engineering section) consist of 13 technical experts/project managers who are dealing with Type and Component Certification and Material Type Approvals for non-metallic materials. We are also very engaged in shop approvals, repair shop approvals and lab approvals for wind turbine suppliers.

As an enthusiastic engineer, the main focus of the work will be on the design reviews and manufacturing inspections of wind turbine structural components and project management of Type and Component Certification. Areas of responsibility and tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Structural verification of wind turbine structural components using commercial Finite Element Analysis software as well as in-house software for specific tasks.
  • Assessment of customers’ drawings and technical specifications.
  • Inspection activities including manufacturing, witnessing of component testing etc.
  • Assessment of material tests and design methodologies for wind turbine components.
  • Project management for Type and component certification.

Position Qualifications

  • Engineering degree (M.Sc / B.Sc or higher) in civil, structural, mechanical, or aerospace engineering or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years experience within the Wind Energy industry
  • 3-5 years experience with FEM software such as ANSYS or Abaqus. Experience with FE modelling of machinery components (cast iron, steel, hybrid materials), bolted joints, and welded joints will be considered an advantage.
  • Experience with material characterization, including fatigue.
  • Some programming skills (python) are an advantage.
  • Strong English language skills (written and spoken).
  • Understanding of technical interfaces and commercial awareness.
  • Project Management experience is an advantage.
  • Flexible and a strong appetite to learn.
