Role purpose

The Strategic Growth & Development (SGD) team is working to develop several propositions to help accelerate our growth.  Each proposition is lead by a senior member of the team.  This secondment is to provide support to one or more of the proposition leads.

There are two purposes for this 6 month secondment:

  • Collect, analyse and present quantified and qualitative information for use in internal and external reports & presentations
  • Develop consultancy skills and a broader understanding of Ricardo’s capabilities and teams as well as insights into future markets – to take back to the candidates practice

The propositions that SGD are working in FY 23/24 now are:

  • North America: Expansion into the North American market
  • Transport Decarbonisation: Exploiting Ricardo’s energy and mobility expertise
  • Marine: Exploiting our policy work in this sector in the private sector
  • Rail: Collaboration with Rail colleagues in CE&ES

Two further topics will kick off in the next 4 months:

  • ESG & Finance: Developing our offer on ESG compliance for the finance sector
  • Climate Risk: Development of new propositions e.g. private sector

Key responsibilities

This role will report to the Director Strategic Growth & Development, though the day to day tasks will be for one or more of the proposition leads.

The following list of responsibilities draws on previous experience, but this is not exhaustive:

  • Collect, structure, and analyse qualitative and quantified data
  • Organise internal and external meetings, taking minutes
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations
  • Analysis of data on markets, competitors etc
  • Interview external and internal stakeholders and analyse the findings
  • Develop and maintain share point micro-sites
  • Keep confidential information confidential

Key competencies and experience

  • Hold a BSc and/or MSc degree in and energy or environmental topic
  • Have an analytical and problem-solving mindset, collaborative attitude and be eager to learn.
  • Willing to apply new analytical and consultancy techniques
  • Have proven experience of research and/or work experience on energy or environmental topics
  • Able to work with a light touch of management & direction
  • Be an excellent user of MS Office with particular emphasis on MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Be proficient in English (verbal and written).
