ABOUT THE POSITION - multiple office locations available.
VHB’s growing water resources group is looking for a Stormwater/ Water Quality professional to join its dynamic team of Water Resource scientist and engineers. VHB is looking for a water resources professional to help support our growing water quality and stormwater regulatory compliance work. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a cutting edge, innovative team of multidisciplinary professionals.
Responsibilities
- Provide support for stormwater regulatory compliance programs for state and local government clients
- Perform field investigations including, but not limited to, stormwater system inspections, construction site inspections, stormwater system mapping, and water quality sampling
- Develop data management tools in ArcGIS, including ArcGIS Online
- Develop innovative approaches for internal and client workflows
- Prepare technical reports, graphics, and guidance documents
- Support the development of federal, state, and local permit applications
- Support stormwater program funding approaches, including preparing grant applications and developing stormwater enterprise funds
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Highly motivated
- Ability to solve problems and think creatively
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Team oriented with strong capability to motivate others
- Familiarity with environmental regulations, including the Clean Water Act, Massachusetts MS4 Permit, and Massachusetts Wetland Protection Act
- Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and spatial database development
- Experience with coding languages such as Python and ArcGIS Arcade a plus
- Data visualization and graphic design skills
- Familiarity with hydrologic processes, water quality treatment mechanisms, and drainage system design concepts a plus
- Ability to travel, if required
Qualifications
- BS in civil/environmental engineering, environmental science or related discipline
- 3-5 years of professional environmental consulting experience
- Experience supervising or mentoring a plus
