ABOUT THE POSITION
Stormwater / Water Quality Leader
VHB is growing and seeking a Stormwater/ Water Quality Leader to join its dynamic team of scientist and engineers. This role will be instrumental in leading our growing water quality and stormwater design practice. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a cutting edge, innovative team of multidisciplinary professionals.
Responsibilities
The candidate will work directly with clients to guide their storm water compliance, design, and planning activities. They will help manage an interdisciplinary water resource team and mentor our strong support staff, while coordinating and being supported by peers across VHBs footprint.
- Identify both short-term deadlines, deliverables, and tasks as well as long-term client goals.
- Assist clients with stormwater regulatory compliance and initiatives to develop comprehensive approaches that are efficient and sustainable.
- Support related water resources work such as MS4 stormwater program management, stormwater-related policy review and guidance, integrated water resources planning, resiliency planning, watershed management and stormwater control planning, stormwater master planning, and NPDES permitting-related tasks.
- Assist with identifying and pursuing new clients and leverage existing relationships to continue to provide valuable services to VHB's existing clients.
- VHB will encourage the candidate to present their work at conferences and workshops and attend workshops and trainings to continue honing our skills and experience.
- Work within a team of professionals in developing site civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of environmental, land development, transportation, and water resources projects
- Conduct, or lead staff who are conducting, a wide array of water resources related studies and analysis including: Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of stormwater systems, analysis and design of conveyance systems, design of stormwater management facilities, coastal impacts, and floodplain analysis
- Prepare reports for stormwater analyses and designs
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

- AutoCAD and GIS experience strongly desired
- Familiarity with hydrologic processes, water quality treatment mechanisms, and drainage system design concepts strongly desired
- Ability to travel, if required
Qualifications
- Familiarity with stormwater management design, Low Impact Development/green infrastructure design, floodplain management, storm sewer design, grading and site design.
- AutoCAD and GIS experience strongly desired
- BS. in civil/environmental engineering, environmental science, environmental planning, or related discipline. M.S. a plus
- 5+ years of stormwater, water quality, and/or regulatory experience, including project management experience
- Personnel management experience desired
- Experience supervising or mentoring desired
- P.E. preferred or ability to obtain within a year desired
