Job Summary

The Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Analyst, reports to the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Strategy Lead, with a dotted reporting line to the Senior Technical Manager Standards.

The role provides support across the organization but has a particular focus on standards and assurance. The Standards and Assurance Platform  develops and oversees independent tools for the verification of responsible practices that support driving positive impacts related to raw material production in the textile industry. The platform covers three primary areas: setting and managing standards systems, assurance oversight for the implementation of standards, and overseeing claims and labelling related to standards.

The role of the MEL Analyst is integral to our commitment to achieving the Textile Exchange Climate+ goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by 2030 and other key impact outcomes. In this role you will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, quality monitoring and reporting of the Impact Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Framework for the full organization with particular responsibility for implementation for the standards system.

The successful candidate will have strong data management and analysis skills and experience of both project and programme monitoring and evaluation and will be skilled at communicating findings and ensuring that insights contribute to continuous improvement.

Like all roles at Textile Exchange, this role will be primarily home-based. Textile Exchange is a US-based, remote-working organization with a global team. This position is open to domestic and international candidates. Ability to work CET hours is prioritized but ability to overlap with US Pacific Standard Time zones is also required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Textile Exchange’s MEL strategy development and implementation.
  • Support the development and implementation of monitoring, evaluation and learning plans and procedures, with a particular focus on supporting the Standards System teams in the development of an MEL system for the standards system.
  • Collaborate with the Standards System department, the Climate and Nature Impact department and technical content leads across the organization in the implementation of the organization’s monitoring, evaluation and learning framework.
  • Liaise between Standards System and Data & Tech to ensure that the data collection system for standards and assurance incorporates MEL indicators including guidelines for collection, forms of collection, training for those involved in the process, in alignment with the organizational digital strategy;
  • In collaboration with Data & Tech and internal experts review data collected on a regular basis to continuously improve the quality of the data collection to match the MEL needs.
  • Operate the internal and external reporting against the monitoring framework to ensure that lessons learnt informs the continuous improvement of the standards system.
  • Support the implementation of the organizational strategy for digital data collection and reporting methods and support the investigation and testing of new methods for primary and secondary data collection.
  • Provide internal support on the MEL system and the use of MEL tools (with a particular focus on standards and assurance).

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in natural, environmental sciences, sociology, etc.:
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience of monitoring and evaluation.
  • Working knowledge of sustainability programs and impact areas in the agriculture sector;
  • Proven ability to understand, interpret and apply technical and scientific information and data;
  • Excellent computer and IT skills, including: Microsoft 365 products along with experience of database systems and data management tools such as PowerBI along with experience of GIS software.
  • Experience in performance measurement, including indicator selection, target-setting, reporting, database management, implementing and developing MEL and performance monitoring plans;
  • Knowledge of the major evaluation methodologies (e.g. qualitative, quantitative, mixed-method and impact) and data collection and analysis methodologies;
  • Experience in field data collection and planning and managing surveys; developing and refining data collection tools; conducting data quality assessments and oversight;
  • Collaborative team player with experience of working effectively across different teams and cultures with strong relationship building skills and a service oriented attitude.
  • Highly attentive to detail with strong organizational and planning skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to a wide range of audiences.
  • Able to hit the ground running – you will need to have experience working in a fast-paced and results-driven environment and be self starting and proactive.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of or experience with textiles, agriculture, supply chains, or raw material resource management

  • Experience with ISEAL codes of conduct

  • Previous experience working in an international context

Employment Package

  • Reports to: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Strategy Lead.
  • Full Time Position, 40 Hours a Week
  • Location: Virtual/Remote, working hours in CET preferred with the ability of some overlap with US Pacific time zone.
  • Annual Salary Range:  52,000-74,000$
  • To be filled as soon as possible (start date to be agreed between both parties).
  • Our offers for salary and benefits are dependent on the region of the final candidate. We post most positions based on a US-based Team member but final offers are done in alignment with the final candidate's permanent residence and in line with Textile Exchange's regional employment package.
