Our Salt Lake City, Utah office is seeking an early career Engineer to support projects located in Utah and across the U.S. This position offers a wide variety of project design opportunities including assisting with stream, wetland, and tidal marsh restoration; water quality treatment retrofits; and coastal/living shoreline design projects.

This position is an hourly, full-time position working in a hybrid fashion from Utah. This position can hired at either the associate assistant Staff Restoration Engineer level or the Staff Restoration Engineer level.

• Assistant Staff Restoration Engineer – Engineer in Training (EIT) certification with upto one (1) year of relevant professional experience and expertise.
• Staff Restoration Engineer – EIT certification with typically with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience and expertise.

The selected candidate must have a strong skill set in hydraulics, hydrology, and AutoCAD Civil 3D a as well as a working knowledge of GIS principles.

What you will accomplish

• Participate in the engineering design, reporting, and development of construction plans for the above listed project types.
• Participate in field work to assess existing site conditions, assess reference reach sites, and perform geomorphic surveys.
• Develop construction plans within the AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation platforms.
• Perform hydraulic, hydrologic, and water quality assessments, modeling, and analysis in support of the above listed projects.
• Communicate and work with project managers to keep projects on schedule and on budget.
• Attend and participate in annual internal design training meetings to support personal-skills growth and career planning.
• Work independently and multi-task regularly in a fast-paced environment; work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Experience and qualifications for success

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related degree.
• EIT certification.
• One (1) year of professional experience in civil engineering design, specific to site development.
• Ability to travel 30% is required.
• Experience developing construction plans in AutoCad Civil 3D.

Preferred:

• Two (2) years of professional experience in civil engineering design, specific to site development.
• Experience with RIVERMorph, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Hydraflow Hydrographs, and other hydraulic and hydrologic modeling and analysis software.
• Previous GIS experience.

An employee in this Salt Lake City-based position can expect an hourly rate of $25.00–$32.50/hour at the Assistant Staff Restoration Engineer level and an hourly rate of $28.50–$37.00/hour at the Staff Restoration Engineer level. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
