Staff-Level Biologist

🇺🇸 Broomfield, CO, US 📝 FULL-TIME

About the opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is looking for a Staff-Level Biologist to support projects throughout Colorado and Wyoming, reporting to our Broomfield or Fort Collins, Colorado office. This office offers a unique work environment supporting renewable energy, transmission, mining, Federal and State regulatory work, and oil and gas clients.  The position is a full-time, hourly, regular (with full-benefits) position.

*The successful candidate’s job title will more accurately reflect their specific areas of focus and experience, such as Assistant Staff Biologist or Staff Biologist (potentially with an ecological emphasis).

What you will accomplish

  • Complete natural resource field surveys
  • Organize and assist with QA/QC and analysis of field data
  • Assist with completion of technical reports
  • Use GIS applications, including ArcGIS Field Maps and ArcGIS Online to complete data collection in the field
  • Safely operate 4-wheel drive vehicles to access remote locations
  • Perform a broad range of tasks related to a variety of wildlife, plant, and aquatic resources
  • Troubleshoots routine problems with oversight

Experience and qualifications for success

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, wildlife biology, botany, or a related field.

  • Prior experience completing environmental field-based work.

  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following preferred

  • Avian species identification

  • Plant species identification

  • Wetland delineations

  • Wildlife surveys

  • Technical writing ability and/or interest preferred

  • Knowledge of Federal and State environmental regulations preferred
