ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Transit Communications/Systems Specialist | Hybrid | New York, NY | Newark, NJ

VHB is seeking a Senior Transit Communications/Systems Specialist to join our dynamic growing Transportation practice in the Northeast. This position provides an opportunity to work on complex transit & rail transportation communications and system infrastructure projects and play an important role in expanding and shaping the group.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements wired and wireless communication systems spanning several types of transit infrastructure projects (regional rail, subways, bridges, tunnels, multi-modal stations, yards, substations, and maintenance facilities)
• Implement communications and systems for fiber optic networks and information management
• Design, build, and maintain compound cellular and Wi-Fi networks
• Planning, analysis, preliminary and final design document preparation for transit-focused system infrastructure projects
• Works on plans, specifications, reports, and analyses to meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements

Skills and Attributes

• Extensive knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in system infrastructure engineering
• Demonstrated excellence in verbal presentations and technical writing
• Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
• Robust technical and critical thinking skills
• Detail oriented and quality focused
• Strong project/task management skills

Qualifications

• 8-11 years of experience in communications/systems design required
• 11-15 years of experience in communications/systems design preferred
• Prior system design experience with SCADA and/or certain Comms subsystems (CCTV, PA, Backbone Communication Network, etc.) on transit/railways projects required
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field of study required, Master’s preferred
• PE license preferred

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $111,000-165,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
