Responsibilities

OVERALL FUNCTION

The Senior Analyst, Equity and Climate Justice will be a key member of the Justice and Equity team, working to implement EDF’s Environmental Justice Strategic Plan and build EDF's capacity to engage on a just and equitable, low-carbon transition on the local, national, and international level. The Senior Analyst will conduct rigorous research and analysis, engage with policy representatives, and build new collaborations with NGOs, agencies, and other partners. The Senior Analyst will adapt planning to meet resource needs and is an expert point-of-contact to colleagues and stakeholders on Equity and Climate Justice technical issues, including but not limited to net-zero, health and climate justice, and low-carbon innovation. Under the leadership of the Director, Equitable and Just Policy Solutions, the Senior Analyst uses experience and knowledge to manage collaborations and processes involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work independently and in teams to design, implement, and coordinate a range of analysis using social science and other interdisciplinary methodologies to enable EDF to better support EJ allies and to apply and equity and justice lens to key areas of EDF’s climate advocacy including net zero and the intersection of climate and health.
  • Work effectively with other staff and collaborators to identify long-term research needed to develop, inform, and support the organization's advocacy.
  • Write research papers, reports, factsheets and advocacy products to communicate analytical results.
  • Serve as EDF representative in external settings such as conferences, workshops, and coalitions relevant to the Sr. Analyst focus areas.
  • Participate in select workstreams and initiatives within EDF to inform provide a connection to the justice and equity team and assist in proactively implementing EDF’s EJ Strategic Plan.
  • Foster work with partners to increase alignment between EDF and partners who represent front-line communities and who have a justice and equity focus.
  • Identify and develop relationships with key stakeholders in regulatory, academic and non-profit sectors with the goal of fostering relationships, gathering information, developing project ideas, recruiting partners, and advancing the overall strategic vision of EDF EJ strategic plan through partnerships and collaboration.
  • Communicate various project goals and results to EDF leadership and staff, donors, companies, policymakers, environmental groups, the media and the public through written and verbal communication methods.
  • Translate elements of the EJ Strategic Plan into actionable items to advance work and decision-making in areas where the Sr. Analyst focuses and liaise with programs to facilitate information sharing, identify synergies and improve collaboration.
  • Participate in advancing EDF DEI goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree and at least four or more years of related experience or an advanced degree in environmental science or policy, epidemiology, or a related field with at least 2 or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Demonstrated competence with justice and equity theory and practice.

  • Familiarity with climate policy or climate justice policy in the U.S., preferably including intersections with health impacts.

  • Strong ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, both independently and as a member of multi-disciplinary teams in a dynamic, fast-paced and creative environment.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience performing rigorous analysis in support of highly visible work, including social science or environmental science related methodologies.

  • Demonstrated skill in synthesizing complex information for non-technical audiences and to translating results into practical solutions.

  • The ability to learn quickly, acquire new skill sets, and think critically.

  • Demonstrated capacity to independently troubleshoot problems where precedents are not always available using an original arrangement or interpretation of complex information or activities to arrive at logical conclusions.

  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.

  • Independent judgment required to plan, prioritize and organize a diverse workload.

  • Experience balancing the needs of multiple diverse stakeholders both internally and externally.

  • Demonstrated ability to work constructively within a diverse and inclusive environment both internally and externally.

  • • A high degree of diplomacy to influence and manage key stakeholders and teams.

  • Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with and lead colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Pay Ranges

We offer a strong total rewards package encompassing competitive salary, robust benefits, and professional development opportunities consistent with a modern global organization. We take into account factors such as candidate experience, skills, training, internal team equity and local norms.

Please note that pay ranges are country specific. As a result, the stated currency is not meant be converted into any other currency.

Minimum Salary

USD $68,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary

USD $75,000.00/Yr.
