Common Purpose is hiring a
Are you our next Speaker Outreach Manager? Someone who persuade people from all walks of life to share their time, knowledge and experience with our participants? And who wants to deliver genuine impact?
We are currently looking for you, a dynamic and ambitious professional who shares our values and is passionate about leading people and projects.
Common Purpose is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1989 that develops leaders who can cross boundaries. This enables them to solve complex problems both in organizations and in cities. We deliver in-person and online leadership programmes for multiple generations of leaders, from students in universities to senior leaders in organizations and society, supporting them to develop the knowledge, skills and inspiration to cross boundaries and become more active and engaged citizens.
As a member of our global Delivery Team, you will be responsible for sourcing, securing and briefing a series of speakers appropriate to our programme curriculum. The role would therefore suit someone with experience of sourcing speakers for events and/or sales/fundraising - while there are no financial targets, you will be tasked with building a pipeline and securing from it a large number of speakers for our programmes. Our speakers usually volunteer their time pro-bono, so you will need to be both personable and persuasive!
This is a full-time permanent role which is based in the UK.
As our Speaker Outreach Manager, you will:
Source, secure and brief a balanced, exciting range of speakers from across the world, both using existing pipelines and thinking creatively about how to add to these
Manage information relating to each speaker, ensuing colleagues facilitating programmes have everything they need to deliver a quality experience for participants, customers and speakers alike
Handle logistical arrangements for the speakers
Support the delivery of programmes on the day, both online and (where restrictions allow) in-person, to deliver maximum impact
Engage directly with clients where required, both internal and external, providing regular progress reports and adapting to their needs
Collaborate with Common Purpose colleagues globally (across different time zones, locations and teams), using our systems and networks appropriately, efficiently and transparently
You will bring this experience with you:
Proven experience of securing speakers (ideally pro-bono) for events/workshops etc, and/or sales/fundraising experience (ideally in similar industries eg Higher Education, leadership, teaching)
The ability to handle multiple projects/targets at any one time
Experience of stakeholder management - building and maintaining strong working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, and managing their expectations
A flexible approach to managing a high workload
The ability to deal with ambiguity, operating in a fast-paced environment with tight and shifting deadlines
Excellent written English, oral communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable interacting on the phone/video calls and in-person
Able and willing to travel for short periods of time (when restrictions allow) and at short notice and outside of normal working hours
Confident and proficient in the use of MS Office and Zoom
What we offer in return:
A salary of between £28,000 - £30,000 per annum dependent on experience
25 days of annual leave per annum + Christmas shutdown (25/12-1/1)
A comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) supporting you in your work
Headspace for work – mindfulness based mental health app
Fast-paced but flexible environment – which will test and develop you
Growth – you will be continually developing key skills and capabilities for your future through the role and our internal training and development programmes
Impact – you will see the impact of your work as you and your teams deliver projects and programmes across the organization
Purpose – the chance to work with a diverse range of colleagues across the world driven by the same mission
Responsibility – you will take responsibility from day one and be given real accountability and ownership in your role
