Local Unit & Position Description
DNV is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated solar expert to join our team in Athens. The position is a full-time position reporting to the Solar Team Leader for France, Italy and Greece.
As an independent advisor, the Solar Engineer will spend the majority of the time conducting direct project work for clients, in addition to supporting business development and in-house research projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Project Manager. After the propoer training, the Solar Engineer will be responsible for managing teams of engineers during the execution of independent engineering services for solar Projects. The role will require the preparation and delivery of presentations, as well as direct contact with the Customers.
- Direct Project work. As part of the daily work, it is expected that the Senior Solar Engineer will be involved in technical advisory tasks which may include project analysis, energy assessment, technology and design review, project contracts analysis and project finance understanding.
- Research and Development. Propose and be involved in internal R&D Projects related to the solar business.
Position Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in the solar sector (preferable in consultancy or engineering companies) and at least 1 year in the solar energy sector in Greece;
- Experience in technical due diligence processes which may include but is not limited to: site assessment, system design, energy estimates, equipment selection, contracts review and project finance;
- Experience must also include a working knowledge of solar PV related regulations, codes and standards;
Experience with IEC and other relevant certifications in the industry;
- Familiar with Project Acceptance tests and commissioning procedures (Equipment test data review); As well as with typical equipment for site inspections (thermographic cameras, I-V curve tracers, …);
- Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills, including ability to write clear and detailed technical reports, presentations and emails;
- Lead and support independent qualitative and quantitative analysis;
- Willingness to travel across the country and internationally;
- Ability to work independently, with an internal team, and with external partner organizations;
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
- Familiarity with PVsyst as well as other energy simulation software;
- Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering;
- Master’s degree preferred;
- English and Greek languages required; and
- Valid driving License.
