On-Site Health & Safety Coordinator - Full Time - Project Based (with opportunity for FT/permanent position)
SkyFire Energy is looking for a well-rounded individual to become part of our solar team as a Health & Safety Coordinator at our Solar construction site in the Gleichen, AB area. This individual will be self-motivated, energetic, personable, and excited to work as part of a fast-growing company in the solar industry.
Primary duties include:
- Maintain and update Site Specific Safety Program for the Gleichen project
- Review existing policies and procedures and make adjustments as necessary
- Weekly review of field operation safety forms and reporting to management
- Record keeping and incident investigation
- Inform management and report all incidents and near misses
- Daily site inspections
- Inspection and record keeping of all PPE
- Ensure all equipment inspections are completed and recorded
- Provide Site Specific orientation and training to all new employees, visitors and sub-contractors
- Prepare and run weekly site safety meetings
- Oversee workplace repair, installations, and any other work that could affect employee safety
- Management of employee safety certifications and renewals
- Liaison with Operations Team to provide safety updates and process improvement recommendations
- Maintain subcontractor approval process for Gleichen project
- Manage and chair Joint Work Site Health and Safety Committee
- Site First Aid
- Maintain SDS records for all hazardous materials on site
- Traffic management and site signage coordination
- Manage emergency situations and conduct period emergency drills
- Manage waste disposal and environmental spills
- Ensure site cleanliness and housekeeping
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role
- National Health and Safety Administrator certification
- Joint Work Site Health and Safety Committee training
- Excellent knowledge of legislation and procedures
- Excellent knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
- Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
- Proficient in MS Office and Google Suite
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must have Class 5 license with a clean driving record
- Have own means of transportation to site (no LOA or mileage for travel to/from the site)
- Valid Emergency First Aid or greater certificate
Assets(but not required):
- NCSO certification
- Working experience with SiteDocs
- Electrical trades experience
- Experience with QA/QC
- Experience with materials receiving documentation
