Senior Test Engineer

Ambri, an energy startup commercializing an innovative battery technology first developed at MIT, is seeking a Test Engineer/ Sr Test Engineer to support the roll out, ramp, test and validation of Ambri’s DC system product.

Position Overview

Ambri is seeking an individual to be a key member of the Ambri System Engineering team.  The position requires working collaboratively with other engineering disciplines to design novel solutions to complex utility scale energy storage challenges using Ambri’s LiquidTM Metal Battery technology.  The individual in this role will be called upon to support efforts by the design team in their prototype and pilot build/ assembly of integrated systems.  The Test Engineer/ Senior Test Engineer will be responsible for working in conjunction with other disciplines (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Firmware Engineering) as Ambri drives to test and validate system performance. The Test Engineer / Senior Test Engineer will work with the Product Safety and Compliance Engineering team to run safety test and compliance for Ambri’s LiquidTM Metal Battery technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify the need for various projects and define critical tasks associated.
  • Design equipment or tests to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Work with vendors and peers to ensure the on time delivery of materials and ensure clearly defined expectations for next steps.
  • Willing to step into other roles as necessary, in order to assist with the completion of high priority projects.
  • Develop DVT test plan and review with engineering and program management
  • Identify and assign resources and equipment needed to during the life cycle of the project.
  • Provide support during initial build out, bring up and testing of engineering prototypes to be used for internal development and early customer deployment.
  • Support during subassembly and system level Engineering Verification Test (EVT).
  • Work collaboratively with Regulatory and Compliance team to define and plan for required testing.
  • Define and plan for short term and long term Reliability Demonstration Test (RDT).
  • Support outside test house work as needed, which can include functional test, cycling test, performance test, compliance and EMC test protocols and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience and knowledge of electrical storage systems is required
  • 5-10 years of experience in a related field.
  • Comfort and familiarity working in mechanical, thermal, electrical and chemical systems is preferred.
  • Experience with personal project management is a plus.
  • Ability to identify and understand a projects impact on Company goals and flexibility with changing goals.
  • Excellent attention to detail, cleanliness and organization.
  • Organized, dependable and driven.
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a fast-moving team.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
