Senior Systems Engineer

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Systems Engineer to bring to life Infoxchange’s mission of Technology for Social Justice.

About the role

Working within the Consulting and Engineering team, Systems Engineers are responsible for implementation of technical solutions for IT Services clients, ensuring our services are viewed by clients as ‘best in class,’ enabling staff and volunteers to work effectively, and offering excellent value for money.

The Engineering team provides technology services for non-profit clients, including:

  • Technical advisory and architecture services
  • Design and implementation of ICT infrastructure including solutions based in the cloud, local infrastructure and hybrid environments
  • Managed desktop and infrastructure services
  • Microsoft 365 migrations
  • Level 2 and 3 incident support, service request and project activities

This role reports to the Team Leader, IT Services Engineering, and works closely with the other members of the Engineering, Consulting, Helpdesk, Technical Engagement and Customer Engagement teams.

Key duties and responsibilities

High quality, customer focused project services (40%)

Lead the design and installation non-profit technology solutions, including:

  • Microsoft Azure technologies

  • Microsoft 365

  • Windows Server and desktop

  • Networking technologies

  • Amazon Web Services

  • Provide quality, appropriate technology advice to Infoxchange clients

Excellent Support Services (30%)

  • Second level support services on key networking technologies
  • Second level support on key Microsoft technologies
  • Provide L2 and L3 support to clients, supporting IT Helpdesk engineers

Improve services & capability (30%)

  • Contribute to the development of SOE package and policy deployment, management and updates, leveraging Kaseya, Intune and PowerShell scripting and automation
  • Support service management systems data integration and automation
  • Maintain and update documentation so that the ITS team can provide high quality, efficient services
  • Share knowledge and expertise with IT services staff

Key selection criteria

To succeed in this role at Infoxchange, you will demonstrate:

Qualifications and Specialist Expertise

  1. Knowledge and experience implementing and supporting:
    1. Microsoft 365 cloud-based services
    2. Microsoft Windows Server, Remote Desktop, Hyper-V and SQL
    3. Azure and Azure Active Directory
    4. Microsoft Windows Desktop
  2. Experience using MSP management tools, preferably Kaseya VSA, CSP, SCCM, Intune & Lighthouse, etc. and scripting/automation tools such as PowerShell
  3. Relevant qualifications such as a tertiary degree or network certifications and Microsoft Certifications (MCSE, Microsoft 365 and Azure certifications desirable)
  4. Demonstrate a solid understanding of network services such as VPN, MPLS, routing protocols, DNS and DHCP configuration, firewall administration, network security best practices and general application / server performance diagnosis
  5. Experience implementing and managing Fortinet, Ubiquiti, Juniper and other vendor routers, firewalls and switches
  6. Experience and skills in liaising with clients in a consulting, service delivery or pre-sales environment
  7. Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Teams
  8. Knowledge and exposure to Amazon Web Services (desirable)
  9. Experience with third-party vendor management

  8. A driver’s license is preferable
