Senior Systems Data Analyst

🇺🇸 Marlborough, MA, US 📝 FULL-TIME 🎯 EXPERIENCED

Ambri, an energy startup commercializing an innovative battery technology first developed at MIT, is seeking a Senior Systems Data Analyst with a background in advanced data analysis to help drive the understanding of Ambri systems utilizing the Ambri cell and battery.

Position Overview

The position requires working collaboratively with other engineering and development disciplines to drive the development of descriptive, predictive & prescriptive analytics. The candidate will identify trends, develop charts, and create visual presentations using data and data sets obtained from, but not limited to hypothetical data as well as information generated from Ambri products.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and utilize test data related to system design, assembly processing, testing, and postmortem analysis, as well as using fundamental models, to enhance our understanding of Ambri's Liquid Metal Batteries and systems.
  • Identify areas to improve battery and system performance.
  • Use advanced data analytics to improve production efficiency and quality.
  • Work with engineers to identify areas to improve the way in which we obtain, store, analyze, and present/share data.
  • Effectively communicate and share analysis results with other teams to help inform design and process improvement decisions.
  • As needed, help set up and maintain a working relationship with outside vendors to support other efforts in advanced data analytics, including through the use of machine learning and AI.
  • Responsible for systems approach to analyzing and finding battery system data which allows predictive modelling of overall performance, based on field data, cell data and systems data.
  • Build and establish an overall systems model for monitoring and tracking performance of individual cells and their influence on overall system capability.
  • Using Ambri cell and system models, build and establish a digital twin model for Ambri’s products to enable software solutions with various other systems.

Requirements:

  • Practical knowledge of statistics including Design of Experiments, survival analysis, multivariate analysis, and general linear models.

  • Experience with state-of-the-art data science methods including deep learning, machine learning, and Bayesian methodologies is preferred.

  • Demonstrated past experience with applying advanced data analysis to an engineering or scientific field.

  • Understanding of database structure and strong data ETL skills.

    • Fluency in statistical programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.
    • Experience building data visualizations using web-based tools such as D3, Plotly, JavaScript is a plus.
  • System modeling using MATLAB and Simulink as well as AutoCAD generation which is used for deploying functions into the Ambri code base.

  • Knowledge of electro-chemistry and battery is a plus.

  • Strong communication skills. Ability to follow technical instructions and clearly communicate (written and orally) with Engineers.

  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.

Education Level:

  • PhD or Master's degree with a strong data analysis background, in a relevant field of physical sciences or engineering, such as applied physics, materials science, chemical engineering, or demonstrated professional experience in a relevant field.
