You will architect the future of our technology infrastructure, pioneering solutions that improve efficiency and drive innovation.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Chief Product & Technology Officer and preferably located within commutable distance of our Portland, ME, New York, NY, Portland, OR, or San Francisco, CA offices where you’ll enjoy a flexible hybrid-working environment. A remote home office will be considered for highly qualified candidates within the United States with an agreement to travel for training and collaboration.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Technical Experience & Leadership
● Innovate Systems Management: Lead the charge in evolving our corporate server and cloud ecosystems.
● Cloud Mastery: Be the expert on our MS Azure configurations, making the cloud work for us, not the other way around.
● Networking Lead: Spearhead initiatives to supercharge our networking capabilities including internet services, network equipment, networking design, VPN, SDWAN, DNS, IP addressing, DHCP, etc.
● Server Admin and Infrastructure: Provide MS SQL Server administration for internal and public-facing projects. Maintain client's server infrastructure including provisioning, configuration, patch management, updates, backup & restore.
Security & Maintenance
● Fortify Our Systems: Implement world-class security policies and protocols to safeguard against every conceivable risk.
● Pioneering System Updates: Create an ever-evolving system that remains on the cutting edge.
Infrastructure Configuration & Management
● Client Support: Responsible for systems infrastructure addressing client’s needs for both on premise and in the cloud; this includes but is not limited to network security, infrastructure design, office build outs, building moves, remote connectivity, virtualization, on premise to cloud migrations, etc.
● Architect: Design and implement custom infrastructure for unique client requirements and work with business process owners to write and implement policy such as access controls, business continuity plans and backup/retention policies.
Team and Strategy
● Capable Leader: Lead the systems and service desk teams. Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures, perform on-call duties on a rotational basis.
● Subject Matter Expert: Your voice will define the future of 3Degrees' technical capabilities and you and your team will lead the design of information and operational support systems.
● Strategic Mindset: Help shape our tech strategy; your technical competency and visionary inclination will aid you in supporting our mission critical infrastructure and ensure the highest levels of availability, performance and security.

We believe that an individual with the following experience will have the best opportunity for success in this role:
Technical Skills
● 8-10 years of specialized experience in complex systems design, programming, and systems software support.
● Microsoft Azure: Intimate knowledge of Azure in private, public, and hybrid configuration, along with infrastructure programming skills (e.g., Terraform); deployment experience with Cloud native services for dynamic scale-up/out architectures, resiliency zones, etc.
● Networking and Security Management: Expertise in firewall, router, and WAN configuration, subnetting, WiFi, and VPNs, and respective deployment strategies to optimize across security, performance, and reliability; experience setting security policies and ensuring respective compliance; aid in SOC 2 compliance.
● SaaS Systems Architecture: Experience in designing and implementing robust architectures.
● Enterprise Monitoring: Adept at enterprise system monitoring and reporting.
SQL Expertise
● 4+ years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL in production environments.
● 1+ year managing MS SQL in a Microsoft Azure environment.
Development and Scripting Skills
● Experience with PowerShell
Documentation and Analysis
● Skilled in documenting system changes and in business process and data analysis.
Additional IT Knowledge
● Strong understanding of IT security, backup and recovery best practices.
● Experience managing breadth of Enterprise software suites (licensing, renewals, etc.)
Educational and Soft Skills
● Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
● Proactive approach to infrastructure monitoring, risk avoidance and reporting
● At least 5 years of proven abilities in people management and experience in leading a team.
● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred, but equivalent experience is also valued.
HOW WE DEFINE SUCCESS
Within 30 days
● Acquire a thorough understanding of our existing technology landscape.
● Identify immediate opportunities for quick wins that align with our short-term objectives.
● Establish strong communication channels with key stakeholders and cross-functional teams with executive level reporting.
● You have acquired a solid understanding of 3Degrees’ lines of business and strategic initiatives and the role that the legal team plays in supporting the company.
● You have developed a resource plan that defines the services the team provides to effectively support the company’s operations and strategic initiatives.
Within 90 days
● Roll out the first phase of your strategic technology plan, making evident improvements in system performance, reliability,and operational efficiencies.
● Begin implementing changes that result in measurable improvements in our cybersecurity posture.
● Receive positive initial feedback from team members on your leadership and vision.
● Develop a prioritized set of deliverables along with measurable KPIs.
Within six months
● Successfully complete one or more major technology initiatives that make a significant impact on our corporate imperatives.
● Demonstrate a clear reduction in system downtime, performance bottlenecks, security risk and inefficiencies.
● Establish yourself as a thought leader within the company, contributing to cross-departmental strategic goals.
● You have effectively cultivated strong relationships with your high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
● Compensation: The starting base pay for this position is $100,800 to $150,000 in the US. The total compensation package for the successful candidate in this role may exceed the base pay as it includes other incentive pay. The base pay is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

● Supplemental Pay: this position is eligible for discretionary bonus programs including the company’s profit sharing program and an annual performance bonus based on personal, department and company goals. This compensation and benefits information is based on 3Degrees’ good faith estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future.
