We are looking to recruit the brightest minds, with game changing ideas who are driven by a genuine passion to transform the health of people, communities and the environment for the better. We are seeking talented sustainability consultants and engineers at all levels to join the team at our Head Office in Newcastle. You will work on projects that are transforming the Northeast region as well as working on some of the most progressive sustainability projects nationally and internationally. We want to empower everyone to grow and lead the transformation, to ensure we are at the heart of the built environment’s response to the climate and ecological emergencies.
You will have the opportunity to engage and collaborate with organisations like the World and UK Green Building Councils and the World Health Organisation among many others. You will work with governments around the world to support the development of new green policies and standards and deliver projects of all scales. Helping buildings and cities around the world to adapt, become more resilient and become truly regenerative. Shaping the next generation of sustainable buildings, retrofitting our existing cities and delivering the next generation of sustainable cities of the future.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and motivated senior or principal consultant to join our world leading sustainability team. You will be able to demonstrate experience and expertise in life cycle assessment, building physics or sustainable standards and certification in the UK. Supported by the wider UK and international teams, who have helped define the Net Zero Carbon agenda globally. There will be a strong emphasis on business development, developing our services and industry leadership where you will be supported by the management team. You will be required to quickly assimilate the innovative services we have developed so that you can use these to promote our services and wider Cundall capacity in the local market.
Working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will design, analyse, report, model and document sustainability projects as well as present to clients with the aim of expanding the sustainability project portfolio.
The role will include supporting, developing and delivering services across our key work streams:
Whole life carbon, circular economy
Design for performance, predictive energy modelling and operational energy assessments
Building physics, environmental modelling and analysis, AI and parametric modelling
Planning, certification (BREEAM, LEED, NABERS) and building regulations
Climate resilience, adaptation and regeneration
ESG policy and strategy
Key Responsibilities
Managing delivery of consultancy projects
Appraisal of building fabric and materials
Writing technical summary reports and detailed technical reports
Client consulting; determining expectations and achieving deliverables
Liaison with clients, project partners and key stakeholders
Analysis of large datasets, condensing into robust and digestible outputs
Supporting both junior level consultants and senior colleagues
Internal quality assurance
Presenting results to clients
Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in engineering, built environment equivalent, environmental sciences or sustainability. You will have demonstrable knowledge and experience in one or more of the key work streams above. Knowledge of the quantification of environmental impacts, EPDs and environmental science. you Knowledge of building physics (particularly in relation to heat transfer, energy, comfort criteria, CIBSE Guidance and/or other industry standards and certifications.
An in depth-knowledge of dynamic simulation software and the UK Building Regulations, including a complete understanding of the National Calculation Methodology is fundamental. An appreciation of coding or a modern programming language is a desirable.
An understanding of sustainable standards, guidance and certification. It is preferable to have experience of the Life Cycle Assessment tool and an appreciation of coding is desirable.
Given the collaborative and client focussed nature of this role, excellent communication skills and experience of using your initiative to overcome challenges are essential.
