Who are we?
Svante is a rapidly growing clean energy technology company making commercial-scale carbon capture and removal a reality and enabling global industries to play offense in the fight against climate change that will accelerate the global transition to a lower-carbon economy. The growing success of our company is owed to our commitment to our people, our emphasis on our values, and our innovative technology. Passion is put into what we do every day.
The Role: Senior R&D Process Engineer
Who are you?
The Process Engineer is responsible to lead R&D activities for Svante’s demonstration and pilot plants, including test planning, directing test plan execution, analyzing and reporting operational data for process and operational improvement, material degradation and failure mode analysis. The engineer assists the design of adsorbent beds, process cycle, dynamic valve concept and balance of plant. He or she is also expected to be involved in all phases of a capture plant process, from new application evaluation to process development and design, commissioning, initial start-up and operation. The position requires an in-depth understanding of adsorption process, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics and heavily involves the application of transport phenomena knowledge in chemical engineering design and plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute multi-bed test plans in close cooperation within R&D and with other departments;
- Monitor and analyze operational data from various test stations in charge;
- In-depth analysis of test data to help process development and scale up activities;
- Create data analytical tools or templates for operations team or junior engineers;
- Trouble shoot and coordinate operational or equipment related problems which may affect the results
- Provide feedback to R&D teams to improve the TSA cycle efficiency, bed lifetime and rotary valve design.
- Provide feedback to design and development teams to improve the plant efficiency or operations.
- Prepare reports, updates, and presentations regularly on test stations KPIs and communicate with shareholders
- Participate and contribute to all phases of Svante CO2 capture process development, scale up and commercialization activities
- Participate in process development and design activities. Apply the principles of mass, momentum and heat transfer to process and equipment design. Work closely with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers to develop PFD and P&IDs.
- Carry out other related tasks and projects as required.
- Traveling to plant sites of ~5% annually is anticipated.
