Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic, international non-governmental organisation. We work with people affected by violent conflicts to enhance their security and dignity through Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP). We work to reduce violence, protect civilians in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath, and help transform the world’s response to conflict situations.
Overview
NP first established a presence in Ukraine in 2014/2015 working on peacebuilding and conflict mediation. NP has had a sustained presence in Ukraine since April 2022. NP occupies a unique space in the protection response in Ukraine; simultaneously providing direct protection to at-risk civilians and providing hands-on support to frontline volunteer collectives to directly contribute to the sustainability and safety of their actions.
Job Summary
The Senior Programme Development Officer (SPDO) works with the senior management team to manage grants, ensure compliance with donor regulations, take lead in proposal development, reporting, monitoring of deliverables and evaluation, and facilitate cross-departmental coordination during these processes. The successful individual combines creativity and innovation with a keen eye for detail and accuracy, excellent oral and written communication skills, a demonstrable interest in Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP) and a track record of cultivating donor relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Development & Fundraising
Support the Ukraine country team in defining programme development strategy and donor engagement and negotiations
Contribute substantively to developing and adapting the organisation’s fundraising strategy
Work with the senior management team to establish and maintain positive relationships with donors and potential donors
Proactively follow-up with donors following proposal submission to monitor progress, answer questions, and amend submission as necessary
Lead discussions with programme staff to ensure that deliverables are produced with high quality and within the required timeframe
Lead the development of proposals, log frames, and contribute to the budget narratives. This includes soliciting ideas from field teams and program staff, contributing creative ideas, coordinating with the programme management team and across other departments (partnerships, MEAL & finance), and packaging proposals to meet the specific needs of different donors
Pursue funding opportunities other than direct grants from donors, e.g. as a subgrantee or consortium member
Support in budget development for new proposals, NCE, CE, and realignments ensuring that all project costs are included in budgets
