Title:                 Senior Program Officer, VCS Methodologies Process Lead

Location:         Remote - Worldwide (with significant overlap with US business hours)

Reports to:      Manager, VCS Methodologies

The Opportunity.

With the rapid growth in carbon markets driving a new wave of innovative approaches, Verra is seeking a Senior Program Officer for the Methodologies Team in the Program Development and Innovation Department. The Senior Program Officer will support the VCS Methodologies team with administering, overseeing, and improving the VCS methodology development process for the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program.

The Role.

The successful applicant will be responsible for work that includes, but not limited to:

  • Developing and improving internal procedures for planning, scheduling, and setting deadlines throughout the methodology development process.
  • Improving tracking, data quality and progress reporting.
  • Responding to stakeholder enquiries related to the methodology development process.
  • Supporting multiple teams across Verra to improve the process and increase efficiency related to responding to stakeholder enquiries, including tracking systems, assignments, and guidance for responding to common questions.
  • Reviewing, editing, and coordinating with the Communications Team to update and maintain methodology related information on the Verra website.
  • Coordinating with Verra’s legal department to develop new templates for contracting with VVBs, consultants, third-party experts, and third-party methodology developers.
  • Providing operational and/or administrative support to PDI colleagues to ensure the timely development and review of VCS methodologies.

You will join a team that works collaboratively to support the development of new and revised methodologies, oversee the development and review process, and lead on updates to VCS Program rules and requirements related to methodologies.

What we’d like to see.

  • A passion for climate action and sustainable development.
  • At least five years of professional experience working for a standards organization (preferred), in the carbon market, or an NGO, government, project developer and/or validation/verification body.
  • Strong project management and attention to detail, experience handling opposing priorities, and cross-team collaboration experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English is essential
  • A relevant university degree
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel abilities. The ability to use project and task management tools such as Click Up is a plus.
  • Familiarity with climate change mitigation activities
  • Motivation and ability to work independently

For this position, the salary range is between $61,827-$110,568 USD. The compensation band is based on a U.S. base salary range and shares the min and max base salary for the position. The final compensation offered will be contingent upon role, level, and location. This position is eligible for remote work.

Salary is one component of Verra’s total compensation package which also includes:

  • Health, vision and dental care, and life insurance

  • Paid time off (PTO), comprising 22-30 days vacation, at least 7 days of annual sick leave, holidays, sabbatical after five years of service, and other leave allowances
