Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled senior press strategist to work closely with the Deputy Communications Director in helping to set the overall press strategy for the organization, as well as develop and implement an ambitious media strategy for one of the organization’s three program areas (criminal justice, voting rights, and education justice). The senior press strategist will create press materials and maintain key relationships with top journalists, editors, producers, editorial boards, and publications. They will also collaborate with internal stakeholders and organizational partners on press strategy for national, state, and local campaigns and initiatives. We are looking for a strong writer with a solid background in media relations. This role will sit in the Communications team.
The senior press strategist will support one of the three program areas - Power and Democracy, Opportunity to Learn or Justice Project.

This position reports to the Deputy Director of Communications and will be part of our bargaining unit with compensation determined by the bargaining unit’s compensation structure.
What you’ll do:
Work closely with the Deputy Communications Director to help set the overall press strategy for the organization.

What you need to be considered:
With 5 years of relevant experience, this position pays a minimum of $82,417.26 per our compensation structure. The salary band goes up to $98,921.77.
