Senior Policy Advisor roles (x2), Public Banks Programme, Sustainable Finance
E3G is hiring for two Senior Policy Advisor positions that will contribute to E3G’s work on redirecting finance and investment to deliver sustainable and inclusive development, focusing on the role of public banks like the World Bank in particular and supporting international financial diplomacy amongst key shareholder governments. These posts will be based in London, although other E3G office locations may be considered.

The role
The aim of the E3G Public Banks Programme is to turn Multilateral Development Banks and other public and development banks into transformational leaders of the transition to a climate-safe world. This role will be at the core workstream of the wider Public Banks Programme and will have a particular focus on supporting international financial diplomacy and amongst borrower and non-borrower governments involved in the MDBs and other IFIs. There will be opportunities to engage with government officials, IFI staff and to have exposure to other E3G work programmes, such as climate diplomacy and clean economy.
Key Responsibilities
Helping to ensure that public banks, in particular Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), accelerate the transition towards a climate-safe world.
Producing internal and external communications materials in collaboration with internal/external stakeholders e.g. policy briefings, reports, social media content and in-depth analysis.
Coordinating with other E3G teams in order to facilitate improvements and awareness of E3G’s work with governments and the MDBs.
Monitor changes at MDBs and Public Banks and provide updates to the wider Sustainable Finance department and all E3G, as well as to external stakeholders.
Develop new areas of interest/future E3G work around public banks and international public finance.
Any other reasonable management request.
International travel may be required from time to time.
Experience and skills
The candidate should be able to demonstrate a high level of initiative and be positive, organised, resilient and able to deliver high quality work on time.
They should demonstrate attention to detail combined with the ability to analyse complex information to create high-level summaries.
An undergraduate degree, and ideally a post graduate degree, in a relevant discipline where possible. This could include politics, social sciences, economics, finance, climate change, environment or international relations.
Relevant professional experience and track record in a relevant setting e.g., political, policy or research in government or international institution, civil society, think tank or research institute.
A good working understanding of the implications of the low carbon transition in the finance sector and of the role of finance in sustainable development. Knowledge or experience in the public bank and international public finance policy landscape and decision-making processes would be an advantage.
Experience of advocating for solutions, and of communicating using a range of different media e.g. reports, blogs, press, social media.
Quantitative data analysis skills for analysis and data visualization are highly desirable.
Very strong written and spoken communication skills and impeccable written and spoken English. Other languages would be an advantage.
