SENIOR POLICY ADVISOR, PUBLIC BANKS & DEVELOPMENT, BERLIN
E3G is seeking a Senior Policy Advisor position within its Public Banks and Development team. The post-holder will lead on the team’s political engagement with governments, mainly those in Europe, who play a major role in development finance including as shareholders of Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs). The Senior Policy Advisor will be based in Berlin’s E3G office.

The role
E3G’s mission is to ensure climate safety for all. E3G’s Public Banks and Development team works towards two specific goals in this context:
Key Responsibilities
Taking a strategic approach to management of Secretariat services to ‘The Bonn Group’, a group of progressive shareholders of Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) and leading efforts to ensure that this group has value and impact in driving reform. Driving efforts to build work with MDB shareholders into wider E3G strategies in order to achieve organisation-wide goals.
Building strong relationships with key donor governments and in particular with individuals and ministries participating in the Bonn Group, working with other colleagues as appropriate (e.g. with team members based in Washington DC and in the UK) to ensure joined-up relationship management across E3G. Working with colleagues to understand and anticipate the needs, constraints and opportunities faced by these stakeholders.
Managing E3G’s relationships with German government institutions working in the field of development finance (e.g. AA, BMZ) in relation to the work of the Public Banks and Development team and also in support of other E3G workstreams. This will involve working in close collaboration with E3G’s Country Director for Germany, and with a wider set of E3G colleagues.
Building a strong working relationship with E3G’s Finance & Resilience team, proactively seeking collaboration opportunities in relation to government stakeholders in Germany.
Building a strategic leadership role within the Public Banks and Development team in relation to the role of European leadership, including leadership by key EU Member States, within the international development finance ecosystem. In this context, work closely and build collaborative approaches with E3G’s EU Cluster and EU Sustainable Finance team.
Supporting the production of internal and external communications materials in relation to role responsibilities, e.g., internal meeting readouts and analysis, E3G policy briefings, reports, social media content.
Supporting E3G colleagues to build and manage relationships with stakeholders in the development finance ecosystem internationally, including bank officials, shareholders, NGOs, and policymakers.
Contribute to the work of the E3G organisation overall, proactively seeking and building internal collaborations with other teams to support E3G-wide strategic goals.
