SENIOR POLICY ADVISOR, EU ENERGY TRANSITION, BRUSSELS
E3G is looking for a Policy Advisor to support our work on energy transition in Europe. The role will focus on electrification and related infrastructure and the social dimension of the energy transition, as the politics of delivery takes centre stage. The successful candidate would be based in E3G’s Brussels Office.

Role Overview
Strengthen E3G's capacity to drive politics to the next set of structural reforms and delivery architecture critical to the decarbonisation of Europe's energy systems. The focus of this role will be on electrification and related infrastructure and the social dimension of the energy transition, as the politics of delivery takes centre stage.
As the EU enters the new age of electrification, this person will lead the creation of ideas and networks to speed up deployment of Europe's smart electricity infrastructure for a fairer, faster and funded transition. It will seek to increase E3G’s high level network in private and public sectors in this space. This role will coordinate closely with policymakers, industry actors, and a network of CSO actors to ensure that E3G is maximising impact in policy choices during the 2024-2029 EU mandate.
In addition, this role will focus on energy affordability and other social dimensions of the EU’s energy transition It will coordinate closely with PEG and develop ETP’s approach to a fair energy transition.
This role will engage closely with the Energy Transition Petal, in particular through close coordination with the SPA for gas policy and relevant colleagues in the C2C team to develop a shared vision for moving from fossil to clean. It will also engage with EU politics and governance, industry, and finance teams to ensure effective and coordinated outreach.
The Challenge
Build E3G’s campaign on the EU grids agenda through narrative development, media and engagement strategies.
Lead political analysis on the social dimension of the energy transition, specifically on energy affordability.
Strengthen E3G’s collective engagement with policymakers, manufacturers, and industry leaders, including bodies like EU DSO entity, ENTSO-E, to promote speedy progress on electrification.
Frequent engagement with CSO network in Brussels through involvement in relevant networks (e.g. BFF electricity markets group, coalition for energy savings).
Organising and participating in stakeholder discussions and workshops; managing relationships with stakeholders in EU institutions & member states.
Feed into grant reporting and funding applications where appropriate.
Help build capacity within the team including support colleagues through peer reviewing work & encouraging skills development.

Essential Skills & Experience
A keen interest in, and knowledge of, the decarbonisation of the EU's energy system.
Experience in developing and implementing outcome-focused strategies.
Strong problem solving and research skills and experience with assessing legislation or policy statements, and other data sources.
Demonstrate a track-record of building, leading and managing stakeholder relationships and partnerships and ability to connect to audiences and understand interests of stakeholders outside the ‘energy bubble’
Is a strong team player, committed to achieving E3G’s objectives and capable of inspiring and facilitating action by others. Works effectively to support shared team outcomes.
Have very strong written communication skills and impeccable English.
Be confident operating in an international context with a high degree of cultural sensitivity.
Have experience influencing senior decision-makers from government, business, finance and civil society.
Experience managing and supporting the development of staff.
