About Clir

Clir Renewables is on a mission to reduce humankind's impact on the planet. We do this by accelerating the transition to renewable energy by improving the economics of projects and empowering owners to maximize financial returns. Combining 200 GW of contextual operational dataset with powerful AI built, designed, and supported by decades of renewable energy expertise, Clir provides insights and tools to assess and optimize wind and solar projects.

Named one of Canada’s fastest-growing companies by the Globe and Mail’s Report on Business, Clir was founded in 2017. Headquartered in Vancouver, with hubs in Glasgow and Calgary, we’re a remote company with employees across the globe and from the entire energy supply chain. Clir has empowered owners across Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Asia to achieve multi-million dollars in cumulative gains.

About the role
Our ambitious People & Culture team has big plans this year, and we want you to join us on our mission to create a values-focused employee experience and culture at Clir.

We’re looking for someone on the East Coast of Canada (Ontario, Quebec, Maritimes.. we’re looking at you!). You’ll be fully remote in this role and will be the People & Culture conduit between the West Coast of Canada, and our European team. We currently have no office on the East Coast of Canada.

As part of a growing and dynamic People & Culture team, this role will have the opportunity to touch many areas of our People & Culture operations, including, but not limited to: data accuracy and analysis, onboarding and offboarding, engagement, policy, process, and program development, as well as engagement, diversity, and other employee experience items. There will be plenty of opportunities for growth and development in this role. You’ll provide day-to-day support for our Clir Thinkers, and gain generalist experience in a people-focused role.

We are looking for a candidate passionate about providing an exceptional experience to our Clir Thinkers, from taking care of the small things like ensuring our systems are up to date, to supporting through the big moments like onboarding and offboarding. Align with our core values? Even better. We’re on a mission to inject our values into everything we do at Clir.

Who you are

  • You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and dive into the weeds. You enjoy detail-oriented work and often think of ways to improve your accuracy and organization.
  • You’re thoughtful, reflective, and resourceful, embodying this in your written and verbal communication.
  • You’re comfortable taking a step back and thinking about the bigger picture, and when you solve problems, you do so holistically with a strategic focus.
  • You’re creative and excited about developing people programs. You aim to create lasting and sustainable processes, policies, and programs.
  • You have the ability to context switch frequently, provide mentorship to other team members, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own employee data accuracy across all Clir systems and platforms; administer employee letters, our performance review process, global benefits programs and talent acquisition.
  • Own the onboarding and offboarding process by acting as the first point of contact for new Clir Thinkers, and the last point of contact for exiting Clir Thinkers, by conducting new hire orientations and hosting exit interviews.
  • Compile engagement, diversity, and other relevant survey data, as well as People & Culture Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), extracting valuable business insights and themes on a monthly basis.
  • Work with the VP of Operations to develop policies, processes and programs in alignment with Clir’s core values and business needs, including mentoring Clir’s managers in employee relationship-related subjects.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for SOC2 and other security audits. Lead the documentation of internal processes, controls, and knowledge management.

What you’ll need

  • 5+ years experience in a People & Culture or HR-focused role.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Commerce, Business, or other related focus.
  • Strong working knowledge of Google and Microsoft Suite applications.
  • Experience working with employment standards legislation, with an openness to learning about labour laws in various jurisdictions.
  • A passion for culture, equity, diversity, inclusion, mental health, and a people-first, growth mindset.
  • Experience working in tech/SaaS is a huge asset!

Bonus points

  • Experience utilizing reports, and working with KPIs.
  • Experience creating surveys for employees and analyzing survey data.
  • Strong Excel skills.

What’s in it for you

  • Opportunity to work in an inclusive and diverse workplace.
  • Be part of a team who are focused on reducing our impact on the environment.
  • Direct 1:1 mentorship with experienced People & Culture professionals.
  • A comprehensive benefits plan.
  • Professional development benefits.
  • A flexible schedule that works with your life.
  • Remote work friendly.

At Clir Renewables, diversity and inclusion are not words we take lightly. These are words we take to heart; we drive to better understand our biases and recognize that we have more work to do to create a workforce that represents those our product serves. We strongly encourage applicants of all genders, ages, ethnicities, cultures, abilities, sexual orientations, and life experiences to apply.

As a partially remote organization, Clir works hard to ensure the safety of all clients and employees through the authentication of prospective employees and their backgrounds. Successful candidates may be subject to a background check conducted by Clir and will need to demonstrate the legal right to work in Canada, the UK, or any area in which they wish to conduct work by showing proof of a valid work permit, visa, residency, or citizenship.
